I had it on my left hand last year, went to see two docs and they both told me the same, Nothing that can be done eventually it will go away give it about 3 months, and it did. Have you had it for longer than that?

One of those new deceases that have sprung up much more in recent years. 10 years ago most folks had never heard of it, and now it seems to be rampant. Lots of my friend are diagnosed with it and it seems related to age.
Some how I get the feeling that for the medical profession it's a convenient cop out for certain hard to explain conditions.
There is no cure and the best you can do to combat any discomfort seems to be over the counter pain killer, like Motrin..
Lots of luck!!

I also have it in my feet. I'm trying B vitamins now. Went through a whole slew of tests and they found nothing.

Neuropathy can be a side effect of diabetes.

Forgot to mention that before I had signs of Neuropathy (according to my doc) I was having some weird feelings in my legs when at rest, which were caused by a severe potassium deficiency, caused by diuretics. No real pain but very strange and disturbing, definitely enough to keep you awake.

Thank you for all that have responded, my neuropathy started more than a year ago, I bought the little machine (small electro shock) for over $ 800.00dol. No help, and I do not have diabetes.
I also bought the B12 complex, no noticiable help after 3 months of taking it 2 pills 2 times a day.

have you tried any mineral or other supplements, in addition to B12?

I use a product called "Calm" with magnesium. It's sold at many grocery stores in San Diego.

It helps a lot with leg pain/cramps that used to wake me up. I use it daily, works well.

See: http://www.livestrong.com/article/529363-magnesium-deficienc...

Magnesium and Peripheral Neuropathy
Magnesium deficiency appears to be a factor in peripheral neuropathy. In a study presented at the 1994 International Conference on AIDS, researchers reported that of 68 patients who had symptoms consistent with peripheral neuropathy, all had decreased serum magnesium levels. Magnesium supplementation led to improvement in neuropathic symptoms. Another study reported in the August 2010 “International Journal of Nanomedicine” noted that supplementation with tiny magnesium particles helped to protect diabetic rats from developing peripheral neuropathy symptoms.

potassium or calcium deficiency normally present as cramps. Too much magnesium or potassium can cause heart arrhythmias, tread lightly with electrolyte supplements.

he only prescription that works is lyrica. Diabetes is a primary cause of neuropathy especially foot bottoms. A surgical cure is nerve decompression , the DELON method. My wife ad it done 2 years ago.
Good luck. it is quite painful condition. What are your A1C readings??

Pain in the panty hose?? :o Maybe try a larger size !

JUST KIDDING: A little levity here.

I looked into "Neuropathy" on Wikipedia; there were over 300 pages of different definitions and classifications of neuropathies of the body from A to Z and back from ZZ to AA again. It seems to be a lump-all-in-one basin for aches and pains from hundreds of different places, sources and causes; sounds like seeing some specialists are in order rather than just neighbor-chat. I feel for you; ain't no fun at all. Chronic pain takes the fun out of most everything. Most times they'll just throw pills at you and hope you go away unless they can narrow down the specific cause, and that takes a good pro with specific testing. Buena Suerte, and keep looking.

I've had neuropathy for many years as a result of Type II diabetes. I am taking Neurontin Gabaapentin and is eases and almost eliminated the pain to a mere numbness.

Once the nerve damage is done, there is no cure.

I used a product called Neuroplex by Standard Process for my patients with good success. Will be hard to come by in Mulege however. Something else that works well even though it isn't what most people use it for and may be easier to find in Baja Sur is St. John's Wort. Most people take it for moderate depression or anxiety but it has powerful effects on neuralgia and neuropathy. Of course the quality of the product you take is very important and can make the difference between working and not. The upside is neither has adverse effects (allow you don't want to take massive sun with high doses of St. John's as you will become more photosensitive) U2U me if I can be of further assistance
Best Wishes

I have it in my face from a butt kicking dose of shingles. It has been 4 yrs. For those 60 and older get the shingles vaccine. You have no idea what hell is like until you get the disease, especially in your face.

Shingles Vaccination

I got my shingles vaccination fro the VA, but I had to ask for it!
It was not discussed in any of my annual physicals or other visits to the clinic, but when I asked about it, they agreed to provide it.

If I remember right, I was given a shingle vaccination shot without asking for it and Blue Shield sent me a bill for around $ 150 US.
Since I didn't request it they waved that fee.
So it's not covered by Medicare or most HMO's.
