Were you coming from Kallispell? I lived there as a kid and spent a lot of time fishing the Flat Head river but there was no dam, and hence no
reservoir back then (1940s).

Thanks for the nice comments.
Glad we did not encounter a grizz. :-) NW Montana is beautiful. We did not go to the park this time as we have been there a few times as my son
lives in Missoula. This time we are headed to Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota.
Bob, yes we came through Kallispell.

Thanks for some great photo reminders of the Hungry Horse area, Diane.
Continuing on your trip to Teddy Roosevelt Natl Park in SW North Dakota, be sure to tour around historical Medora and for sure don't miss the Medora
Musical, which you can see from the Burning Hills Amphitheatre, overlooking the Little Missouri River Valley. You'll love this.
You'll see lots of bison and other wildlife in the park, too. (When I was a teenager, my date and I were surrounded by a startled herd of red-eyed
bison when we were parked on a night-time drive through the South Unit. Exciting to say the least.) If the bison are not just grazing next to the
road on the South Unit loop, talk to a ranger at the Medora office for bison advice on best roads, time, etc. You'll enjoy the experience of Teddy's
favorite place.
Bully!
P.S. We have lots of tamer ranch bison around the area, too. Just remember, it's not a petting zoo..
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

THANKS for the suggestions! We didn't continue driving today as it was raining, so we stayed in the little town of Malta, Montana. You probably know
where it is. :-) Love these little towns.

Hi Diane,
Sure, I know Malta..Chinook and lots of other little towns on the Hi-Line. It's a great pheasant area in case you want to exercise your dog and his
nose. Should be lots of eastbound bikers out there at this time of the year. Keep a sharp lookout for antelope wanting to cross the highway.
Oh, and check at Crow Wing Agency down the road a ways..past Glasgow..to see if they are having a Pow-Wow anytime soon. Always fun when they let you
keep your hair!
