Museum fun

Today we went over to the Cultural Museum which is 3 minutes away from our apartment.

HERE IS THE BUILDING:

THE WELL WORN STAIRS:

AND THE SIGN SAYS -WELCOME-

POLAND IS WELL KNOWN FOR WOODCARVING AND THIS MUSEUM HAS SOME VERY NICE PIECES:

THIS WOODCARVING IS A CHAIR:

AND HERE I AM SHOWING SOME LOVE!

THERE WAS A SPECIAL EXHIBITION ON THE UKRAINIANS WHO WERE APPARENTLY FORCIBLY MOVED TO WEGORZEWO AND WHO HAVE MAINTAINED THEIR HERITAGE TO THIS DAY:

NEWPAPER:

BEAUTIFUL ART:

THERE IS A BRAND NEW BUOIDING THAT JUST WENT UP IN FRONT OF OUR APARTMENT AND AS THEY DUG INTO THE DIRT, THEY FOUND CHIPS FROM 15TH CENTURY CERAMICS THAT HAD BEEN THROWN AWAY IN THE "GARBAGE" . THEY HAD SOME DEFECT AND WERE TOSSED. ONE OF THE ARCHEOLOGISTS WAS THE ONE WHO WAS OUR GUIDE:

WHAT THEY HAVE DONE IS BUILD THREE HOUSES IN THE VARIOUS STYLES TYPICAL OF THIS LAKE REGION. IN THIS PICTURE - NOTICE THE CRIB AND THE BABY ROCKER:

THE ROCKER HAD HOLES FOR THE BABY PEE TO LEAK OUT - haha

AND THE CRIB WAS ADJUSTABLE SO THAT IT COULD BE LENGTHENED AS THE KID GREW- PRETTY INGENIOUS!

THESE EGGS ARE SO TRADITIONAL HERE IN POLAND. AND SOME AREAS HAVE THEIR COLORS AND DESIGNS THAT ARE HANDED DOWN FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION. THE GUIDE EXPLAINED THAT THE YOUNGSTERS WOULD DYE THE WOODEN EGGS AND THEN THE BABCHAS OR GRANDMA'S WOULD DETAIL THE DESIGNS:

THESE ARE ALL FOR SALE:

I TOOK SO MANY PHOTOS AND ONE VIDEO AND MY BATTERY RAN OUT OF JUICE ! DID NOT REMEMBER THE MUSEUM AS HAVING SO MUCH TO VIEW, BUT IT REALLY IS GREAT.

I CAN POST MORE PICS TOMORROW. LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS SOMETHING THAT INTERESTS YOU ALL.
