Short Term Storage - Personal Items - Ensenada

Hi. This is my 1st post on this board. I will be driving to the Ensenada area for a week starting Sept. 8. This will be my "reconnaissance" mission to check things out before my more permanent move on Oct. 1st.

Since I can't fit all my stuff in one trip in my SUV, I will be bringing down much of it in Sept., but I will need a place to store it for about 3 weeks until I come down again in Oct. with the rest of my stuff.

I couldn't find any place in Ensenada who advertises storage. What I did find was a place (Baja Storage) a little north of Puerto Nuevo who advertisies a small storage area for $50/mo., although they go fast so I may have to step up to $75 for a larger area.

Does anyone have any advice/suggestions to find a place to store my stuff for $50 (less?) closer to Ensenada?

Thanks in advance.

For whatever reason, apparently most expats don't use storage units here in Baja otherwise there would be more of them. So probably that price will be the cheapest you can find.
I think most expats store their stuff in Chula Vista close to the border and move it down across the border in small increments to avoid paying import taxes.
When I moved to TJ years ago, I store a small amount of belonging at a storage place in Chula Vista (near the border) off the 805 and everytime I crossed the border to the U.S. I would bring back a carload of stuff. It will probably be a lot cheaper to do it that way rather than hauling a big load at one time esp. if you have a lot of stuff.

There are a couple of places in the Ensenada area. I don't have my phone book right now, but maybe Udo will chime in. I believe there is one in Maneadero.

You may also want to subscribe to the Punta Banda newsletter. Information about the local area, and you can ask your questions there

Someone on the Punta Banda site said there is a storage facility in Ensenada which you can find on the Yellow Pages in Spanish. I would be careful about Maneadero as that area has more theft/crime (according to my Mexican friends). "Bodega" is usually the term for storage facility.

Try Pacifico Storage in Maneadero - don't know their cost or contact information. On the East side of the road as you approach the town from Ensenada after the Pemex. Near the Catholic Church.

There is an American style storage unit place on the free road in the Rosarito area. You can probably rent a 10 x 10 foot unit or something like that there. It's on the east side of the road. A bit of a drive from Ensenada though, but it's on the way.

I currently Use Pacifico Storage in Maneadero. They are very reasonable.
Their phone number is 656-154-1352 They are open 7 days a week and their prices are somewhat negotiable...don't tell them I said so!

Thanks Udo - I'll keep it in mind - although on the map it looks like Maneadero is approx. 15 miles from where I'll be staying. Baja Storage is on the way, but if Pacific Storage is reasonable enough, it may be worth the time/miles.

At the time that I was checking, about two years ago, Pacifico Storage was about 35% less.
