From everyone I've talked to, this one is

prepping up to be the biggest ever for SF.

I am flying some team support over fri morning from PHX for Ragland Racing.

Sat I'm flying aerial support for DP Racing, 2 time past winner in class 21 of the 1000 grandaddy.

Fri. we're offering 30 minute aerial tours of the area for anyone interested in that for a diversion. You can sign up for that by email to me.

All hotels are booked. The parties should be classic baja racing fun. Can't wait!!

I'll be down there also. I may pre-run the course just for fun. Doesn't look like we will race the SF 250 this year. Maybe next year hopefully. We are going to put all our efforts in the CODE races this year.
I plan to go down Thursday night, check contigency on Friday and watch the race from the southern part of the course on Saturday. Paul

Two years ago Sarah and I watched them at the sulfur mine (jumps), which you can access using the old Nuevo Mazatlan road that heads west from Mex. 5, between Km. 31 and 32, then in 4 miles take the right fork over the sulfur hills to the old Puertecitos road, which was the race course.

I'll be down too. Maybe Tunaeater and I will do some prerunning or postrunning together. So far I'm not helping anyone but that can change. The past several years I've helped Mike Doherty from Tucson in his class 8 truck. I'm interested in the new KTM MC team and how they do.

I think an aerial tour up Matomi wash toward San Quintin would be interesting.

David this might be a chance to follow the El Volcan wash from the Sea of Cortez to El Marmol.

Not El Volcan, unfortunately as a dry waterfall was an effective block to BillB, Corky, and 'mcgyver' (Max) when they hoped to fing the 'Tule wash' miners trail to El Marmol from the gulf side (it is on my 1905 mine map of Baja, and Tule was the old name for El Volcan wash). Bill did scale the waterfall and hiked a long ways up El Volcan arroyo... looked promissing.

I suggest you go up the Bill Nichols m/c trail that takes you all the way across to San Quintin. It leaves a few miles south of Puertecitos from the mine in Arroyo Los Heme (by La Costilla/Bahia Cristina).

Good luck and may the Force be with you!

Since I live about 3 miles from the usual course, I'll be there. Is the course posted yet? TW and tunaeater, if it goes north on dump road from the start, might want to watch where we do for the first part and head south for the later part of the race.

Just checked the Score website and the map is up - computer problems,I couldn't get it but got the Notes - Almost exactly like last year. Out dump road, head out toward 5, then north and around the hills and back thru Valle Chico to Morelia Jct, South to Huatamote, back up Chanote, down Matomi, back via sulphur mine. Bikes off at 6am, 4 wheel off at 8:30am.

I think the reason why it is just like last years is because it is for 2004....at least that is what I read for the map.....

Thanks for waking me up Jim - they fooled me once before like that - heading for this years event but data for the last one.

But they don't have a real lot of choices either.

Bajalou, your invite sounds good to me. Paul your on for the ride on Friday. I haven't heard anything about the course but Score will probably run the same old course again. I do wish they would start the cars/trucks later like 10:30 or 11 to get the bikes out of their way. A lot of the less experienced riders are no match for the Trophy Trucks and fast cars, especially in the dust.

Sounds like fun. Hope you have a great race. Can anyone tell me how the race will affect any non-race traffic between Puertocitos and S.F. on the day of the race?

Rusty...since we don't know the course yet it is hard to say...but there will be a lot of traffic with all types of vehicles and trailers being towed....and like all traffic some will be sane and some crazy...sort of like a so cal freeway drive.......I am sure this will get some more responses with MUCH more to say about traffic....I will now go to my bomb shelter until the "all clear " sounds.....

Loke Surfer Jim said, the course isn't out yet, but very often the section of Puertocitos road from the intersection with Old Puertocitos rd to Matomi Wash will have racers on it. And the balance will have chase crews, spectators etc. running up and down.
