2016 TRAIL OF MISSIONS on TV Sunday Sept. 4, 2016
Cameron Steele's new TV special on this year's Trail of Missions off road/ history/ fun tour will air this Sunday... on ABC. Cameron provided each
vehicle on the tour with a copy of my new book... Thanks, Cameron!
2016 Monster Energy Trail of Missions presented by BFGoodrich...
18 trucks. 9 days. 2,200 miles. Join the Desert Assassins on the Monster Energy Trail of Missions presented by BFGoodrich Tires TV show THIS Sunday,
September 4th at 2pm PST and 3pm EST on ABC's World of X Games as they visit missions in San Borja, San Ignacio, Mulege and Loreto to end up at the
final destination in the mountains of the Sierra de la Giganta mountains, San Javier. This is what Baja's all about. #TrailofMissions
Here is the promo clip from Cameron's Desert Assassins Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DesertAssassins/videos/121811736490...
While not shown in the body of the show, in the introduction are helicopter shots (on the actual show this Sunday), they fly over the 'lost mission'
walls near Bahia las Animas (just a couple seconds of air time).

Nice promo clip. I've seen all the prior shows, and enjoyed them very much. I've since turned off my cable. Hopefully, this will be online later.

On some systems search, use "World of X Games" to find the show or DVR record, this Sunday.
"Trail of Missions" is not listed on some cable services.
It is on ABC TV, which all should get?

I hope it is as fun to watch on the big screen for everyone!
Cameron had me check it out to make sure the historical details were okay. I didn't catch anything that needed to be edited, and frankly, the show is
more about the overall Baja experience of families traveling together, getting to drive on dirt roads, seeing old missions and abandoned mines, and
all the other great stuff that draws many of us back to Baja.

DVR is set, and I am home working in the garage on organizing camping gear for future Baja trips (not at Shell Island this weekend as planned, due to
a family member needing help).

I thought it was a good show and I enjoyed it. They seem to have a lot of trouble with their trucks. Brakes, steering etc. Maybe they just get too hot
behind the wheel over the back roads.

Ford Raptors... spindle snapped on one (south of Punta Baja) during the 3 days I was with them in 2014... used the helicopter to go to Baja Cactus
where the parts trailer was. The Tundra had 0 issues, of course.

Yes, a great mission to visit and a wonderful family there.
If you don't have the book (Baja California Land of Missions) yet, here is my article on San Borja, published by Discover Baja Travel Club a couple
years before the book: http://www.discoverbaja.com/2014/08/16/the-spanish-missions-...

Prior shows had some issues with spelling of place names. For example "Punta Chvivato" and "El Resequen" in 2015.

Yes, and I think El Requeson was misspelled again this year... we can also nag on Cameron about his pronunciation of places like Pozo Alemán and
Sierra Gigante... but the show itself is really about promoting Baja California as a safe and fun place to view history and enjoy dirt roads, the
ocean, and more. I only checked on his historic talk as to age of the missions, etc. I think he got it right (good thing as he had my book, 50
actually, before the trip)!

Love Love that show. I have been down most of the roads they took and all the Missions. It has brought back lots of memories of good times on the
trail. Did a lot of them with my friend Russ and Pam and George Kelley. Baja is so full of more trails to take.

Hi Meany,
I did a bunch of landings at Santa Paula airport last week. the airport is such a cool little place. It's like going back in time 50 years. Sorry
for hijacking the thread.
-------------
Cameron pronounces El Requeson as "El Rascanne" or something. Small nits about an otherwise great show. I'm very happy that they are promoting the
peninsula.

Yes the airport is one of a kind. A lot of History and some Great old planes. I love going there to watch the old planes fly.
