Another consideration for off-grid household power
https://www.tesla.com/powerwall
Each Powerwall has a 6.4 kWh energy storage capacity, sufficient to power most homes during the evening using electricity generated by solar panels
during the day. Multiple batteries may be installed together for homes with greater energy needs. Current price is $3,500 but will go down
significantly when production is moved to the new Nevada site.

Bad ass yes, but it is just a battery bank. At $3500 dollars and warranteed for 10 years that is $350 a year. How much is the average off gridder
spending now on batteries now? I am at about one third of that with my agm batteries. On top of that battery bank you also have to buy an inverter
that is capable of converting the hi voltage from that battery to usable 120v AC. It starts getting expensive.
Off grid, 12-190 watt evergreen solar panels on solar trackers, 2-3648 stacked Outback inverters, 610ah LiFePo4 48v battery bank, FM 60 and MX60
Outback charge controllers, X-240 Outback transformer for 240v from inverters, 6500 watt Kubota diesel generator.

sure it's early days re the tech ... but I'd still ensure fire insurance was up-to-date!

Hey Larry! This is Carol. Hope all is well with you and Lois. Think of you two (three with Buddy) often! Can you tell me the Inverter we need for our casa, in detail? We want to get one before we head down to Bahia. I
believe the name is Outback.....

Very cool stuff, but highly unlikely they will go down in price. NOTHING, goes down in price, but they may extend the warranty or offer some other
slide of hand to make it a better value, but not a better price.

I'm interested in hearing any first hand comments from people using the AGM technology batteries vs. the acid flooded lead deep cycle for solar use.
I'm getting about 5+ years from my LTH's but the cost has skyrocketed. Use to be that the panels were expensive and the batteries cheap but all that
has changed. I'll need to replace my 20 LTH's in another year or two and am interested in alternatives that are perhaps more cost efficient. Thanks!

I have used agm batteries now for about the last 12 years and would not go back to fla batteries. I usually find used batteries taken out of large
industrial sites and use the best ones for my solar home. The batteries I have now were bought by a casino in Nevada but never installed because of
shipping damage, just slight dents and scratches but the seller could not install them so I got 6 of them for $1200. Just size your batteries for your
needs and run all batteries in series and they will last quite awhile.

I use a forklift battery. Nothing else compares price wise or longevity wise esp. if you get them refurbished. Mine is in my service three years with
no appreciable loss. I know of more than one person using the same battery for 20+ years. Super thick plates, rugged and no connection wires. Love,
love, love mine. I attached a link to the fellow I got mine from. I spoke to him last week and he says he can deliver to Mexico. May be worth a
look. If you want to name drop tell Marion that Anthony from Salida sent you. FWIW I receive no compensation from him

Yep, the higher priced and higher performance panels are the same price but give you more for your buck. Single Silicon vs Multi Silicon, they never
lower prices, on the latest technology only on the old less efficient crap. Being in IT marketing it is kind of a Moore's Law concept.
