RIP Rick
Our neighbor in town who bought one of the houses Les fixed up passed away day before yesterday. He was not on this forum as far as I know.
He lived his life exactly the way he wanted to and refused to go back to the US when he got ill- said he wanted to sit in his easy chair with beer
galore and not be bothered by anyone.
and that is exactly what he did. He died in that easy chair with a full but opened can of beer within reach. RIP Ricky!
The reason I write is that on the afternoon he died, I went over to see if I could help with anything as Rick's son lives in the States. The local
doc had already come and declared the death natural. Dick had some VERY close Mexican friends and both were there. His caretaker was one and she
cried on my shoulder. His grande amigo had called the police and they told me we had to wait for the funeral guys to come from Vizcaino.
About 3 hours later, they arrived and said that the body of all foreigners had to be officially examined in Vizcaino, death determined as natural and
the consulate in Los Cabos informed so that American insurance policies etc. would kick in.
The body is already back and open casket is in Dick's livingroom, Mexicans are guarding it day and night as is the tradition. One provided a huge
coffee pot. Another provided two trays of cookies. Another brought over chairs. They are wondering why all the Americans in town are not there (I
tried to explain that this is not customary in the US). Cost so far? $2000 dollars. He will be buried here.
Anyways, I learned a little about what the procedure upon a death is and thought it important to share.
Make it a great day, as a friend of mine says!
Mucho take it easy! as our local Joaquin says.

Thanks for your care Blanca and may Rick Rest In Peace or as it would be said in México: Que Descanse En Paz... This just goes to
illustrate how wrong ALL of those nasty and corrupted posts about how the "natives" treat your fellow citizens and about the "retaliation U.S. expats"
suffer in México... Muchas gracias Blanca. Rick's heart showed what he got and felt for México... Mi Casa ES Tu Casa.
