Enjoying

Just wanted to say how I enjoy seeing the recent activity on the boat thread. Always love looking at anything about boating as well as associated fishing.

I started going out at age 6 with my grandfather in the Gulf of Mexico on 'Miss Modern" a wooden 42' Matthews. One aspect of my grandfathers job that carried on into retirement was to entertain oil industry types for the oil valve company he worked for. 'Miss Modern' was used to take folks out fishing and most often they would drink too much and my grandmother and I would get a lot of quality fishing time. Used to tie up to Shrimp boats, give them a case of beer and get fresh, frozen, cleaned shrimp by the box.

Eventually I owned an 18' center console for fishing off San Diego, a 30' foot Island Gypsy, a 42' Grand Banks, a 25' Boston Whaler all used in the PNW Columbia River and offshore for salmon and tuna.

Older now and going smaller I have a 14' Duroboat in MX and a 21 foot Harvey Dory in WA State for fishing out of the Columbia River.
