Proceed with caution to Playa Santa Ynes
Have u seen or know this kayak man and tent??
Last week I took the road down to Playa S. Ynes. Easy drive on a well traveled dirt track. When I reached the beach the road parallels the playa for a
mile to the end of the beach at the south end. I passed a ranchito 1/2 mile back and saw no problem with being there. I also passed a small family
with a 4x4 camper from Alaska near the beach. As I approached the end of the road I spotted a dome tent on the beach with a kayak next to it. As i
slowly drove past with courtesy(not even close to them) I saw a man waving his arms high, in one, a mostly empty bottle of tequila. I figured this guy
was being socialable as I exited my truck a 100 yards down the road where it terminates. I took "Buzz" out for a romp on the beach. Well. here comes
this gringo up the beach towards me still waving his arms. So we started walking toward him to meet him. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! This guy wasn't a happy
camper. He was swearing at me accusing me of destoying the beach(which I wasn't even on) and then condemmed me for destroying Baja with my vehicle. I
tried to talk to him and explain that the road was well traveled but he heard nothing. Still sceaming at me, my dog was really getting scared. This
guy had a Mexican puppy and told me get the hell out of there. He was on the beach with a young Mexican boy maybe 14-15 yrs old. He said that I knew I
should not be there and that the kid owned the whole coastline. It was like trying to talk to a drunk rock. My dog loves all, big or small and as he
sniffed the puppys rear end the pince gringo told me that if I did not leave now"how would I like a dead dog". My reply was " your tent and gear
should be moved" he said "what?" and I told him he was parked on the freeway and I was coming thru. Joke. I decided to split even tho there was 20
miles of vacant shoreline. As I left, his middle finger still high in air I thought.... hey, this nice guy wants to be noticed so I stopped and yelled
over to him " I will make sure that you will be noticed and then when I got ready to take his pic he turned his head away so as not to be
recognizable.
What in the hell are these over-zealous gringos doing here. They will never find a beach they can call their own and although I believe in respect for
the land I am convinced that Mexicans made the road and it was for their livelyhood. As I took the photo from the road on zoom I didn't realize that
he was sitting there with his arm around this kid. I almost......
here is the creep who would not have his photo taken, I wonder why???

He didn't have a car? Do you think the relationship with the kid was illegal? Maybe he was being aggressive to get you out of there so he could be
alone for ...???

he only said that the kid was the owner the land. I presume he meant the local ejidos. I am relatively uneducated on the distribution of coastal E.J.
lands but as I understand that as in US, the coastal lands are public domain or Fed. lands which I have been led to believe are accessable unless Fed
closed. Access on the other hand thru private property may be restricted as u see along the BOC where E.J. sign are posted. At Playa S. Ines there are
no signs and I pointed that out to the idiot. He retort was such"Signs!!!You act like you don't know but you do!!". Im loggin out for wrk

It might be that he was awaiting a panga loaded with Greas from the other side and did not want anyone around to observe the comings and goings.
It might be that the Guy has gone "Nuts" sometimes that happens to the best of us when we have a "fit of anger' which I did on the Beach in front of
Rancho Sonrisa: A crazy Hungerian Pilot was making very low and Dangerous over the Beach in his Motorizied Glider. There were familes with children, I
took it upon my self to throw a very large rock at him on his next Low Pass. I came close! He was Irate!

adults sometimes show their asses :moon:, and a 3/4 empty bottle of tequila will assist in that manuever.
i just feel sorry for the kid...there could be a number of explanations, not many of which are good.

Now, now, let's not start blaming this on poor, defenseless tequila. Tequila doesn't necessarily make people act stupid. They're stupid to begin
with. Tequila just brings their stupidity to the surface by removing inhibitions and impairing judgment. Not that I would know from personal
experience, of course, not being stupid myself.
Speaking to Skeet's point, on a crowded 4th of July weekend a few years back at La Bocana, some knucklehead in a Camaro was racing up and down the
beach and spinning donuts, narrowly missing a lot of people, including kids. A group of soccer players dragged him out of the vehicle and started
kicking the snot out of him. His friends then came to his aid, wielding bats, ice chests, rocks, you name it. Ugly. The problem with these group
violence scenarios is that each person's stupidity isn't just added to the others. It actually increases the stupidity level exponentially, and if
there's alcohol involved, well, I made that point above. It's no wonder that a lot of us are anti-social -- it's essential to avoiding group
stupidity. It also helps you to avoid acting stupid yourself, because it feels, well, stupid to act stupid when there's no one else around except
maybe the dog, who's looking at you kind of funny.
Anyway, the most interesting factor in the original post was the absence of a vehicle. The guy had to get there somehow. Very curious.

pince gringo whacko
As a past true tester of spirits I know how alcohol affects and effects one. We all look pretty stupid drunk and we all look pretty stupid that mad
and I have been there but when in beautiful place like Baja and when with a resident it does not bid well for us gringos. I believe that this man was
a lone traveler. I actually thought he was a Mexican as his skin was so dark but it was one of those reburns that makes u more red than brown. Judging
by his deeply burned tan. I think he landed there by Kayak alone and found a little friend, possible homeless but.... by his rage and insistence that
I leave lends me believe he was up to something. Had I raced up or came in cross-country I could possible see his anger at destroying his peaceful
setting but not the case. So if u come across that tent on a beach with a kayak and maybe a boy...be careful and if he obviously is doing bad things,
well, u will know what to do....

It seems to me that this is worth reporting to local authorities.The threats of violence and the description of this encounter would probably get the
interest of the police or immigration. I have seen the migra guys from Santa Rosalia kick a couple of "undesirables" out of the country over the
years. Why not discuss this with someone you know and trust in the local Mulege community as to how to report it and to whom.

It is a conundrum in a situation like this. If I did report this locally they would have to go investigate. This is good but I worried that if for
some reason this arsehole had some legitimacy it could backfire on me. I would hate to be marked as a false alarmer, especially in this close-nit
area. I was hoping someone could identify and either discharge my concerns or reaffirm this person was trouble. In the latter I would of course file a
compaint. A fifteen year old would most likely not confess of any deviation. I would bet he is still in the general vicintity so keep your eyes
peeled.

I think Bruce Leech should ask the local authorities to check it out. A look-see wouldn't hurt. I would hate to think that the boy was being
exploited. And what if this a____e is some kinda nut - more victims? Theft or other violence on beach campers? A canadian woman once told me she
was camped along that beach, and she went for a walk. She encountered a Mexican boy and had a conversation with him - thought it was strange that he
should kind of appear out of nowhere and really had no reason to be there. She got back to her camp and found that she'd been burglarized.
Apparently the friendly enounter was a ploy to keep her occupied while someone else - approaching by water - went through her stuff.

A good dirt road maybe 8-10 miles north of Mulege where the playa turns to cliffs.
Get someone to drive down and look. It is an easy drive. I would feel better(or worse) if I knew the whole story. Maybe visit that little ranchito
and see who all lives there. It's the only one I saw but could be more.
