In my opinion, in 7 to 10 years there will be nothing cheap in Baja - or many secluded places left anywhere near the shores of Baja.
The SAME boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It's about what you are made of NOT the circumstance.

I agree with Bob H. If you think you might want to retire here look for something right now and as far away as you can get. Todos Santos has several
BIG resorts going in as I type and La Paz is the HOT new place with lotsa activity in the real estate market. Basically Baja is changing and breaking
many of our hearts in the process. On the other hand, if you are willing to be somewhere that there are no services there are 1000's of hectares
between the border and San Lucas where there is not a soul.
I have been living here(near San Jose del Cabo) permanantly for 5 years and absolutely love it, but I could not possibly have predicted all the
changes that have happened in those 5 years. And I can still dust off the camper and go into the desert and not see another person for days.
Jeez the more I type the happier I am.

I think you would like it better south of La Paz. this area where I am is to small and to far to go for good shopping. also it is the slowest going
aria in Baja. It is to quiet and to beautiful also I wish I had never come here. tell all your Friends not to consider retiring here.

Try Punta Finale. Not too far from the boarder, yet far enough from humans

I think prices for lots in the area south of Puertocitos to Gonzaga will explode after the road is paved. Maybe now is the time to think about
purchasing?

Try La Ventana a few miles South of La Paz.

Bruce,
Mulege is heaven compared to Loreto, we have been here for 2 years now, and wish we had retired to New York. My dogs have been shot, and my boat
was last seen being stolen by drug addicts from Loreto Bay. Tijuana is the place to be.

Bruce, Don't forget about...
the west Nile virus from all the mos-key-tos in the river near town. The scorpions in your sandals. The rattlesnakes hiding in the shade of your
pickup truck. The no-see-em's that flock to all the beaches each day! Mulege can be a haven for pestilence!...
Let's see, what did we leave out: killer bees, man-eating creatures of the deep, jelly fish, and of course, the worst, our fellow man, himself...
According to my clock...anytime is \'BAJA TIME\' & as Jimmy Buffett says,
\"It doesn\'t use numbers or moving hands It always just says now...\"

Postman, you have to ignore the peanut gallery sometimes... However, if you are serious you cannot expect anything to be what you see today, in 7-10
years.
For example, south of La Paz there may be a large PANDA zoo (near San Bartolo) in ten years... It seems that some gringo (who hated his own kind, and
prefered to live among the locals) convinced the locals to give up what they were doing (making candy, cheese, leather goods) to grow BAMBOO!
Well, the bamboo grew so quickly it overtook all the grazing land the cattle and goats once fed upon...
The local government had no idea how to restore the once natural landscape to its original state...
The United Nations was called in... they insisted the land once happily farmed and grazed upon by the small town's people and their flocks MUST be
taken away from them, as the U.N. had a better plan!
With the people removed, Chinese Giant Pandas were brought in to feed on the bamboo The town, now is made up of Chinese support personal and their families, is renamed 'San Panda'.
The first panda born in Baja (in 2016) was named 'Junior', but the Mexican visitors who come to the panda zoo prefer to call him J.R. ??? It seems only the locals (who had to relocate to El Centenario inside walled
encaves) know why.

Bubble?
Look out if California real estate takes a tumble, all that line of credit money to buy Baja real estate goes bye, bye.
