Skiff rental?

Hello, I am new to this forum as well as Baja travel. My family and I are planning a trip in our class c from early June until mid July. We did a similar time frame trip last year from the Texas border to Mexico City and had a great trip. My first question is regarding small boat operation. We live close to the gulf coast of Florida and have cruised in sail boats as well as ran center consoles for fishing for many years. I have debated bringing an inflatable as well as a 8hp outboard for use in the Sea of Cortez. I have also thought about the option of skiff rentals if available. I could use my outboard and fuel tank and would only need the bare boat for 6-8 hours at a time. Is this a possibility at some of the shore side towns/villages? Thank you for all the information of this site. It has assisted in planning more than you know.

I spend the winters on Bahia Concepcion, where your inflatable would be good, and am not aware of skiff rentals. Take the inflatable if you have room.

Take the boat you will love it, there is no rental of boats unless you want a 22' panga and captain, inflatable are a blast you will love to have, get some beach launch wheels or a simple dolly.

Welcome to the forum!

My experience with inflatables is all on northern waters, but having one in Baja sounds like a great idea!

Eight horse power is fine for getting from the beach to a boat, but to cover any distance you should double that. Also, if you have to leave it in the sun for a while, bleed some pressure!

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

Pangas are for rent (with captain) all over Baja. From small 22 footers to 28+ foot super pangas.

We rent them all the time. I also have an 11 foot Zodiac w/a 10hp engine. It's an inflatable and sometimes I take it out on the pangas.

You can hire a panga and Capt. For about $250 for a day of fishing most won't mind if you bring snorkeling gear along if that's what you like to do.

Thanks again for the replies, Looks like the inflatable will be making the trip on the cargo rack.

Have fun with your inflatable but be careful the sea of Cortez can turn real FN ugly in a matter of minutes.
