What earthquake site is that? USGS is showing nothing over 2.5 for the last 7 days?

One person I know in San Carlos, Son. reported a jolt last night at about 1923, but nothing showing on the USGS site. At least nothing over 2.5.

Not Baja, but there were three quakes of similar magnitude about fifty miles east of me, near Truckee CA at about the same time.

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

Volcanoes & Earthquakes shows the latest earthquakes and active volcanoes on a map and as list.
You can filter the data shown in various ways, e.g. by magnitude or age of earthquakes, the distance from your location, the status of volcanoes and so on.

The original earthquake / volcano data can be found with more detail on www.volcanodiscovery.com. Earthquake data are continuously being collected and updated from various public sources, mainly international agencies such as USGS, GFZ, EMSC and many others (currently more than 25 sources).

I have been watching the Iceland lava flows videos daily, and they are amazingly spectacular with long range telephoto close ups of the lava a flows and the eruptions out of the cone.

The fascination with these goes back to my youth and an old black and white movie from the 30's on a tropical island when the natives were gobbled up by the lava as the hero and heroine barely managed to escape to live their lives as they loved.

Funny, how such an image from my early years stuck with me to this day, and now has me watching Icelands eruptions with the digital advances to provide a picture that was never possible before.

The daily lava flow show is mind bending.

The lack of ash compared to other eruptions going down all over the planet at the same time is such an attraction to going there in person.

I am fully vaccinated and have been for over two months, and wish everyone would do the same so we all could resume our lives of travel without risking others in our own self-centered pursuits.

Peace, love and fish tacos is missed greatly on this site by this lone observer. We all know the handful of posters who should be relegated to the off topics section for their beyond stupid attempted justifications that rely upon questionable resources.

Doug has only so much influence without devoting all his time to ostracizing those who deserve to be labelled as trolls.

I have longtime close friends who have left this site because of these few members who have no soul and are allowed to post their fake news without penalty.

Nothing will change as long as these few people can post their 'opinions'. No matter how much they try to point to sources to back up their positions, the more it can be seen that they are relying upon and supporting untrustworthy science. Nothing new there for these posters , what else can they be called, except trolls?

Karma can be a b-tch, and some here should be more open to seeing that they are part of the problem and not a solution when they try to justify their ignorance from sources that can be called and should be called, irrelevant to fact. There are no alternative facts.

As one who never comes everyday as I do here for political or medical advice. I wish this site would be more active in putting these posters where they belong so the rest of us can get back to peace, love, and fish tacos once again.

For sure, we have the choice to not read certain posters, and I do. That certain longtime posters have had enough of this crap and left this site is a shame. Their influence is missed. Others who continue would not be missed if they took their bs elsewhere. If only they would go away.

Permanently. Have at it.

For the moment at least, peace, love and fish tacos feels good. That will last only as long until certain members continue spread their disinformation as they do almost daily.

Do we all not get enough 'news' in our daily lives that we have to put up with it here?

This is a case where the “cure” recommended is probably worse than the “problem” you wish to solve!

The case made is “Everyone knows that some of the things posted are untrue. Therefore they are an eyesore, can only influence those who already believe them and should be banned”!

A couple things come to mind, without supporting posts that I also think are wrong.

1) How many thousand examples of “suspect science” being right and established science being wrong would you like? Life lacks neat answers and based on “Fermi’s paradox” the universe is out to get you!

2) Everyone seems to have a “dog in most of these fights”, I know that I do! Where, other than through an exchange of views do you expect to find the best (not Right, but today’s best) answers? From the “Voice of Authority” or the “Voice of the Mob”? If so we’d still have “The divine rights of Kings and public denunciations followed by a quick visit to the “good doctor’s device”!

3) What about Doug banning people who descend into pejoratives rather than facts even ones that are controversial? I could support that.

Knocked a few pictures off the bookcase and woke us up with a jolt here on the near east cape. It was a solid shock, but short in duration so we knew the epicenter must have been close. Sure enough,
