Check it out, Sunday 6:13 AM PDT space X falcon 9 to be launched from Vandenberg to put more junk in orbit. Should be a good show for people in socal and baja if weather behaves,…

This is really interesting. I live in Lompoc, CA where Vandenberg is located and it is quite an experience when they launch a rocket. Your windows begin to rattle and it feels like it is a light earthquake. When the rockets launch at night or in the early morning it lights up the sky briefly like the sun is rising but the light only consolidates around the rocket as you watch it disappear into outer space.

I had no idea that you could see them launch as far as Baja! It's a shame that they are going to start moving most of the launches to Cape Canaveral.

Vandenberg is used primarily to insert "junk" into polar orbit

Types of orbit
Geostationary orbit (GEO) (Direct TV & SXM type satellite junk)
Low Earth orbit (LEO) (ISS type junk)
Medium Earth orbit (MEO) (GPS type junk)
Polar orbit and Sun-synchronous orbit (SSO) (mapping and spy junk type satellites)

And for a price you can have your remains propelled in an orbit f your choice

Vandenberg launches polar orbit payloads AFIK. The payload tomorrow is a spy satellite for the NRO. Launch path south over Catalina so we should see it to the west if cloud cover permits.

A unique "sunrise service" on tap tomorrow.

Beautiful launch we can see from our home. Rocket body came back to VAFB (VSFB) with a bright glow of retro motors. Foggy here but very low, otherwise clear sky. Able to see launch, separation etc. and watch SpaceX live streaming on the cell phone at the same time.

‘Twas a cloudy morning. I woke up and saw the weather and went back to bed.
