Rancho Alamar fire. Fundraiser to rebuild. Sierra de Juárez, BC

Rancho Alamar hosted their annual cabalgata (group horseback ride) on April 30th. The main guest building, housing the kitchen and large dining areas, along with another cabin, caught fire and burned to the ground. A propane leak (due to a broken hose, if I understood that correctly) caused the fire. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries.

Rancho Alamar is a few miles east of Laguna Hanson/Parque Nacional in the Sierra de Juárez. Alamar has been a scenic and tranquil refuge for visitors in the Sierra de Juárez for many decades. Señor Alfredo Vizcarra is now in his 90s. The family is gathering resources for materials to rebuild. Volunteers are organizing to donate their labor.

Thanks for posting this John. Had lunch today in Guadlupe with Mike who was there on the ride. So sad. A lot of sad news lately from that neck of the woods.

Any donations would be much appreciated. Don Alfredo is 92 and his wife is 88 years old. Such good people and iI hope this post brings a few pesos their way. .
