Agatha...the first named storm of the season!

Agatha is predicted to come ashore on the mainland south of Acapulco, not on Baja, but it should serve as a reminder that the season is upon us!

Agatha made landfall just west of Puerto Angel in Oaxaca. I was taking a Spanish class with my teacher in the city of Oaxaca - over 150 miles from shore - when the power cut out. Now it looks like the remnants of Agatha might reform in the Caribbean - a gift that keeps on giving!

The largest hurricane to hit Mexico in the month of May according to a few news reports I heard.

A trans-storm?

If Agatha is able to hold together until she reaches the Caribbean, she will become Alex! Would that would also be morphing from a Typhoon to a Hurricane?

Alex may very well be making an appearance in the Gulf of Mexico. Currently the remnants of Agatha are going by the catchy name "Potential Tropical Cyclone One".
