Gas prices
We're strapping the kayaks on the camper next week and headed south (Gonzaga, San Fransisquito, Coyote, La Paz, Evaritso and whatever else catches our
fancy). What's the damage (monetarily) going to be at the Pemex?

Gas is cheaper in Baja than it is in the states. Last I heard it's a little over 6.0 pesos per liter@ 3.8 liters per gallon for Magna sin 87 octane.
7.1 pesos per liter for 93 octane, when you can find it.
5.0 pesos per liter for diesel.
We make that same trip with kayaks every year...have fun...Gary

Filled up my diesel P/u yesterday in San Felipe and checked the price - 4.980 per liter. Magna was 6.010 a couple days ago villing up the Bronco II
expect a 1% rise in price the first of each month.

Gasoline prices
Gas prices in Vegas are unbelievable - when I went to work yesterday our corner station was 2.37$ when I passed it on my way home it was 2.49.99 per
gallon - can't wait to see what it is tommorrow ! Everything goes up except salary !!!!

Here in SD area I was really excited on Tues to get gas for 2.41.9 Most stations were over 2.50 Cant wait to see today when I am driving all over the
county for appts. They just said on News its going up. The fun never stops. Wish we could raise our pay the same.  :moon:

On Monday afternoon, It took 363 pesos to fill my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon - the same amount to fill my buddy Russ' Rubicon as well - the exchange rate
used for dollars at the service station was 10x1 - Russ bought my gasoline in Pesos, but a few days earlier, I filled my tank and my 2 Jerry Cans
using dollars at the 10x1 exchange rate. Baja can be great in more ways than one...

I just exchanged some dollars here in Loreto last week. Rate was 11.0 to 1. Travel with pesos and save yourself ten percent of the price at the
service stations. Every little bit helps.

Los Barriles gas price is:
Magna Sin 87 octane 6.01 pesos a liter.
Premium 92 " " 7.10 " "
After all the conversions, short pour, overbilling, the Magna-Sin will cost
you very close to 2.60 dollars a gallon.
But, no worrys here, it is just what it costs to live in Paradise and no freeways!!

We alway use pesos when we can. It makes paying for things much easier ... no conversions. Couple of years ago we went to the petroglyphs at San
Fransisco (N of San Ignacio) but didn't have enough pesos or a calculator. It was real fun trying to figure out how much to pay the guide (required)
when none of us were real sharp on our math.

You southern Californian folks should quit whinning; at least you are still way under $3. I have to pay $2.90 a gallon. And my tank is 32 gallons.

Here in North County of San Diego, it topped at $2.53 last week, and now is dropping a little... $2.51 at ARCO. I saw $2.55 at some Chevron/Mobil type
stations also... they were higher before yesterday. Next to the freeway in San Diego, last Saturday was $2.97 for regular and over $3 for premium at a
Shell station.

I have been driving my VW Rabbit turbodiesel pick up for the past 5 years. It averages 50mpg, gets 650miles per tank and takes 13 gallons per fill up.
All my friends wondered why I chose the VW instead of buying a beautiful, comfortable, safe, cool, ego boosting, enormous SUV. They laughed at my
"toy" truck.

Gas was $2.55 when I filled up near LAX yesterday.
Thx, CasaManzana, really cool to see prices around the world.
Remember that one reason why gas prices are much higher outside of USA or Mexico is because those countries add heavy taxes to the gas. That is they
way they pay for things in their country WHILE the USA prices mean the higher prices might be putting money into the Oil company than the Country's
taxes.
BTW, First Quarter profits were UP on most Energy companies in USA...

Who's got a big barge...we could bring enough fuel back from Venezuela to last us for years in Baja...!
Paid $2.519 here in Lodi today...Stockton's cheapest are around $2.559...and the profits just keep getting bigger and bigger for the state of
Calif as these prices rise! Forget about your State income taxes...we all pay way more in taxes on our fuel than any other item! (unless you're
Trump). I believe the Fed's get $ 0.14 per gal, and the state gets around $0.07 per gallon + about 8% sales tax on these inflated prices...that's a
LOT of bucks every day for our various Governments!!! I may off a little on these tax numbers, but it's still BIG money for the state, and our
highways are still falling apart!!! They love to suck up these fuel tax dollars in Sacramento and use them for their other pet projects.
According to my clock...anytime is \'BAJA TIME\' & as Jimmy Buffett says,

The way around high gas prices
The USA is a Capitalist nation----- No getting around that. The way to off-set the high gas prices is to invest a little savings in energy
stocks-----the returns (cap gains) have WAY more than off-set the higher gas prices. Now that is the Capitalist way!!!
When in Rome, do as the Romans do, and all that stuff.
