On TV - The Journeys of Harry Crosby

We caught only a portion of this the other night; we found it very well done. A lot of it is about the work for his book Last of the Californios.

It's listed for a replay this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. on public TV KCET channel 28 where we live in the So Ca area (FIOS)

It is also online, they say for a limited time. Link near the top of VivaBaja.com.
When it was on TV here in San Diego, I recorded it. Just pop over for a viewing on a big screen.

The full show on line (for now): https://www.pbs.org/video/journeys-of-harry-crosby-sbilxs/

I have watched it twice already and it will remain on my DVR. A good friend has done some work around his home in La Jolla and had the chance to talk some story. Oh to be a fly on the wall for those conversations.

Thank you Harry and family and friends for your Baja passion.

I am very fortunate to have met Harry and visited with him a few times. The most recent was in November 2019, at his home. Elizabeth and I came at the invitation of Harry's daughter. We also asked Doug (Baja Nomad) if he would like to join us, and he brought his son Ryland.

Harry autographed my copy of 'Antigua California' and I gave him a signed copy of my book. I showed him his 1967 photo of the El Camino Real marker stone, I put in my book.
A great day!

Not long after this visit, his abilty to communicate about the past, deteriorated and he no longer has visitors. What a wonderful treasure he has been conveying Baja's past with all who were interested.

Very well done film that conveys Harry's passion for Baja.
The portrayal of the common folks and his means of doing so was fantastic stuff.

Gonna find some of those books

"To me, Baja is all about the culture." Truer words can hardly be conveyed. Thanks Lencho.

May the new year be even better than the year just passed for all here on Nomad. My hope is for less barking and more tail wagging.

We can do it. The will is another thing entirely.

Peace, all of our love for Baja is obvious, and fish tacos.

Harry Crosby is and has been a hero of mine for a long, long time. I have had the pleasure of talking with Harry several times. He is a class act.

It did not take long for me or many others who explored Baja in the 70s and 80s to realize Harry Crosby was living the dream.

This documentary explains succinctly how he lived that dream.

The photo of a young Harry with an older Tacho is simply priceless. It reminds one that we were all young once...

Salud!
