school supplies donations for La Bocana
Hello all! Most of you know about the Oaxacan family that lives in La Bocana whom I have been working with for years now.
They have 7 kids and after kid #3, she tried to get the doctors to tie her tubes but they refused...she has a heart condition and they did not want
the risk.
After child #7 (I met her when she was pregnant), her husband agreed to a vasectomy and voila, problem solved!
As you are headed south this year. please consider taking down school supplies for them. They are a lovely family teaching great morals to the kids.
If you have time, stop by and meet them in La Bocana! If you dont have time to get off the beaten path, please let me know beforehand and you can
leave donations (notebooks, crayons, copy paper, construction paper) with Bonnie and Paul at the San Ignacio Springs yurts - just 5 min from highway
1.
Here is the gang holding books we bought them in January 2022.

Their first day of school last year

During covid they were tutored. How can such a nightmare actually work out to be a blessing? They now all get As and Bs after being tutored! Thanks
to all who helped them. We did good!

I wish I had a pile of comic books to donate. English or Spanish. What a great way to learn to read.

Hi Blanca and Les,
I dropped off a bunch of stuff to the caretaker at your house on my trip down this last spring, a few school supplies, but mostly kites and coloring
books and crayons for the kids. Shelley just told me this morning that she probably wants a trip down to BA in October and I’m going to see if we
can correlate the trip with a clinic in La Paz the last week of October. Not sure that we’ll be driving through La Bocana but we could easily drop
off in SI on our way to the clinic. What would you suggest as far as supplies? Shelley usually goes to the dollar store for toys/candy for the kids at
the clinic, and they carry school supplies too. What would be good school supplies for the children?
Two dirt roads diverged in Baja and I, I took the one less graveled by......
Soy ignorante, apático y ambivalente. No lo sé y no me importa, ni modo.

Hi Blanca! We'll be in that area in early December and will definitely bring supplies. If you think of anything else they need, let me know.
(Kristene) Cheers!
