The blue line is the exact center of the eclipse in April

It was too cloudy where I am in Nevada county to see much, but I got a pretty good view for about 15 minutes. The clouds thinned out just enough that
I could see about an 85% oclusion, and didn't need an ultra-dark lense to view it.

We had a Bloody Mary party out at Shari’s La Bufadora Inn in Bahía Asunción yesterday. Great viewing, great peeps, good times! We’re trying to
plan our spring 2024 La Paz clinic so that we can drive south towards lands end and view the eclipse one morning (should be about 92-95% in this
area).

My daughter lives in Albuquerque now and snapped this photo of the surreal shadows and rings of fire under the trees shining on her Baja greyhound
rescues, Kirby and Lucky Boy.

That is so cool!
I witnessed a similar effect a couple of years ago during an eclipse over NorCal. Every beam of light filtered through the leaves on my oak tree was
an image of the occluded sun.

I paddled out for a surf at Oceanside Harbor during the eclipse and caught a huge set wave right when I entered the lineup. It was glorious. I
looked up thru the deep layer of gray cloudy sky and saw the eclipse. Many others had no idea what was even going on above them. Cool moment.

Just got home from a 440 mile sprint back from Albuquerque
My first eclipse was the great event in Baja Sur 1991
My high school daughter and I drove down to KM 100 and watched that one. It was the best ever!! 3500 miles round trip
This one in New Mexico was "annular" so the world stayed pretty bright.
The so called "Ring of Fire" is still an amazing thing to see.
We are already booked into San Antonio for the one next April
A real tradition in our family and it all started down at KM 100, north of La Paz.

Speaking of 1991...
On VivaBaja.com I have a webpage to show the photos from 'M' of when she and our very own 'Graham' was there: https://vivabaja.com/eclipse/

Mazatlan has only a 45 percent probability of clear skies. Most of texas has about 60 percent probability of clear skies.
Keep your options open. Evaluate the weather the week before the event, and choose your viewing spot based on near term weather forecast.
Woke!
Hands off!

The very tired steeker on my old Toyota truck, years later. We watched the eclipse on the East Cape before the beach sand was converted into people
and hotels.

Yeah, had a stack of those way back
The BCS government decided that they would be overwhelmed with visitors so you were supposed to make reservations to drive down and they were going to
check you in at the Eagle Monument.
So, we did all of that and of course when we got there it was totally unmanned.
Also, they expected gas to be scarce with all the drivers so they put gas tanker trailers, filled with gas, up on blocks along the highway. And, they
too were unmanned when we drove by.
As a tourist attraction it was a bust, but as spectacle it was awesome.
Our viewing spot at KM 100 was suggested as the absolute best of the best locations for being on the centerline
There were probably 50 or 60 of us there, less than the gang at any decent turn on the 1000 race road.

What, and cancel their Airbnb booking that blocked the host's calendar for 6 months from anyone else booking, one week before their check-in date? The
cancellation policy likely means the guest wouldn't get a refund, or only half their money back, not to mention it would be a jerky thing to do.

Most the eclipse-viewers opted for Hawaii over Baja, I think part of the reason the eclipse tourists in Baja was a bust. But I had to laugh -- we had
perfectly clear skies in BCS while Hawaii's eclipse was shrouded by clouds.

We had sensational clear skies back in BCS-1991
Last Saturday in tiny Moriarty NM we had crystal clear skies
My daughter drove 7 hours to Winnemucca and had yuck!
Luck of the draw I guess....

I encourage everyone to live up to the terms of the contracts they enter into. I also encourage all eclipse viewers to take advantage of all possible
flexibility so they can get the clearest skies they can... and comply with your contractual obligations so Surabi is happy.
