The 2023 downloadable Benchmark Baja Atlas App from Avenza is now here!

I just happened to go onto my cell phone Avenza App to look at the Benchmark Baja Atlas, and see a pop up notice that the NEW 2023 map is available for $9.99 to existing 2021 map owners.

Here is the website link for new customers (disregard the wrong year, as it says 2024): https://store.avenza.com/products/baja-california-atlas-land...

If the map is already on your phone, the upgrade option will pop up.

David, is the map georeferenced when using the app? In other words, does the app show your current location on the map?

I found this in the Avenza promotion;

"Locate yourself with GPS

Avenza Maps offline GPS app on your mobile device can locate you on any map, without WiFi or network connectivity."

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

YES! No cell service needed, either.

It also allows you to record tracks... as I did last year when we went to Mission Santa María...

The bullseye is what will be over your location as you drive. Here is is after I am home and I am just centering the screenshot with it.

While TW was driving, I was comparing the kilometer markers on the highway with the Benchmark maps points for them. Only in the Santo Tomás-San Vicente zone did I notice that were they off by about one, due to the newer road cuts and shorter distance of the newly straightened and widened road.

By-the-way, the newer arroyo route I recorded out from Santa Inés (Ynez) is now on the second edition Atlas.

I love having a Baja mapping company that is so easy to reach out to and see results!

Thanks David. I just downloaded Avenza and the Baja Landscape maps. Even though I already pay for Gaia, this is a good backup in case I venture outside of my Gaia offline downloads. At $20 and only 87MB, it's a cheap backup. I much prefer the offline satellite maps from Gaia, but they are so big, and Gaia is just so slow to download maps.

They (Gaia) look interesting but I am not sure how or who updates them or they simply use the government maps from years ago. Maybe they are either too expensive of too complicated to use for us senior people? If there is a step-by-step guide to how to use and how much things cost, it may appeal to us who are a bit less tech savvy?

The Avenza App is free, took no time at all, and only required a key press on my phone. The downloading of the Benchmark Baja Atlas into Avenza was also easy, was $19.99 ($7 cheaper than the book), and was easy. I was most impressed on how it uses my phone's built in GPS to show me exactly my location, plus other data. For us far-sighted people, you can zoom in way close, better than having the paper book. You can create tracks to record your travel, too. The 2023 update edition is only $9.99 for those who already have the 2021 map downloaded.

Anyway, thank you BeachSeeker for your posts here!
