mr bill: my tail gate handle has a lock. it locks with the ignition key. a few years ago, tail gates were being stolen left and right at lake havasu. they are easy to take off when not locked and just a bit more difficult when locked!! my truck at that time had a lock as well.
didn't know about the small number of keys for shells, i will probably re key mine at some point.
