What do you all think about this new thing- a Device that allows you hang by your feet upside down. People say that it is good for Decompression of the Back
Anybody have any experience with this DEvice.

Skeet/Loreto, Had a gadget you fastened to your ankles, metal hooks allowed you to hang from a pipe upside down. It was neat, but if your back was really hurting you'd never be able to get yourself in the upside down position.:(

Great !

Hey George,

Glad to hear the surgery went well. Speedy recovery, amigo.... Although I imagine the fish swimmin' about Abreojos are not as happy about this as we are ;D

Jorge II, sorry to be chiming in late but I was researching for you. Finally found what I think will work. The Abu Grabe Method. It basically consists of sets of incline sit ups -- with your surgery I wouldn't start with more than 200 a set, 4 sets a day followed by trampoline (light workout). Basketball, handball, can be jarring and I wouldn't get into any intermural stuff for at least a week. JUST TAKE IT SLOW.!

I don't think he will post anymore. He is having too much fun. Says he caught a bunch of Halibut today and doesn't have time to post about it

They hung Hussein right side up.:(

Didn't do much for his back.
Come to think of it, didn't do much for his general health either.:biggrin:

Great for your back but your BP goes to 400 after 20 seconds.

Still a bit of pain from operation, nothing like it was before and I think I'm expecting too much, too soon beside becoming a bit paranoid.:O

Jorge I I am beginning an exercise program to consist of lifting one volksvagen twice daily (bug of course) 2 1/2 squats, just cause I love saying and writing "squats", almost as refreshing a word as sphincter:bounce:, don't you think? 461 jumping jacks (with back pack) and a half of a sit up. I'll be back fishing in no time!

Ralph: tell fishinrich to keep his fat little ass away from "my" halibut.:fire: Deborah will love knowing the yard is green, thanks to Vivita if you see her!!

Hope to be home by early August, keep the fires burning.

lips, no yard work, just follow my exercise program as stated above..

George- during your illness your muscles in the lower back have really tightened up and it will take weeks to get them stretched out. Do the stretching exercises whenever you can, sitting, laying down, standing. Your therapist will give you the core muscle exercises and keep it up for as long as you can stand it and each day will be a little better. I think it was over two weeks for me after surgery that I really began to feel the strength begin to return to the lower back but the pain had been gone immediately. Blessings and don't worry- it's all going to get better-- Norm

Wow! Engine 42! Working my way through Fordham U. in the early sixties, I spent most of my summers turning off hydrants on Kelly Street and environs. The DWSG&E didn't pay us for hazardous duty, but I thought you guys really deserved it.

Wishing you a speedy and COMPLETE recovery.

Fordham, what a great school. I was working off Monroe Ave and the Cross Bronx all through the seventies...looked like Berlin after the war!:O

Anybody working those areas(especially through the nights) deserved combat pay...wadda trip!

capitolkat: I still have some tingling/sensitivity in my right leg when touched, thinking it could be a holdover from nerves being P-nched for two months prior to operation...pain at a minimum now. Anything like that for you after operation??? gracias

George - it's 10 years post-op. my right knee and upper thigh in the front are still tingly and partially numb. The nerve was damaged by the ruptured disk and will never fully recover. I can do everything I did before but cold weather makes the numbness more pronounced- It's not something that has slowed me down just a feeling I've become used to.
