Alarming headlines this week!
September 2023 was Earth’s most extreme month for heat ever recorded
Climate change could make beer taste worse
Heat is affecting the hop quality!
I Study Climate Change. The Data Is Telling Us Something New.
“… there is increasing evidence that global warming has accelerated over the past 15 years rather than continued at a gradual, steady pace. That
acceleration means that the effects of climate change we are already seeing — extreme heat waves, wildfires, rainfall and sea level rise — will
only grow more severe in the coming years.”
Woke!

The sky is falling!
The sky is falling!
Run and take cover!
Chicken Little
Far to little data over a far to short a time span in the earth's history to draw a conclusion.
CO2 is good for plants Lots more CO2 when the dinos walked the earth. Same for temperature
Consider also the original starting point of data collection 40 years ago being debunked and thrown out by even the author as bad data and analysis
but of course no one remembers that little tidbit of history do they?
I'm betting we could analyze data from thousands or millions of years ago and draw the same conclusions about "climate" as we do now with the recent
data we are using if we cherry picked the time frame of data collection.
The seas have risen AND fallen in the past just like they will in the future.
There's a difference between "weather" and "climate" only some want to conflate the two.
It does make for a nice industry for funding and jobs though.
There are some very well credentialed scientists out there with the opposite position as to the current hysteria it portends.
But alas I guess we just shut down any opposing viewpoints as heretics
Today's Witch Hunts brought forward 300 years.

Goat,
If the Naples volcano erupts or some island in Indonesia you’e never heard of blows up you’ll be talking about the danger of global cooling. Then
there’s the solar maximum coming and the FAA says someone is going to get killed by a falling StarLink satellite!
It’s the “disaster du jour”!

Interesting you should mention that solar activity is a major contributor to global warmth. Present cycle named Solar 25 has so far outperformed the
previous predictions, and won't be peaking for a couple more years. Musk and Starlink suffered some additional unexpected ill effects back in 2022.
"The thermosphere expands as it warms," Mlynczak said, resulting in "increased aerodynamic drag on all satellites and on space debris." This increased
drag can pull satellites closer to Earth, he said, which could cause satellites to crash into one another or completely fall out of orbit, as SpaceX
Starlink satellites did in February 2022 after a surprise geomagnetic storm.

How come no one ever talks about the cooling affects of clouds and the more CO2 means better tree and green plant growth?
More plant growth (proven event since the additional CO2 has been tracked) means more O2 for us- doesn't it?
The sun beats down on the earth and sea and that makes more clouds thus causing a larger cooling affect on the entire atmosphere.
Why has no one even talked about that phenomenon?
Seems to be a self regulating event for the most part
And "those in the know" won't even acknowledge the hundreds of very well degreed scientists that disagree with the climate narrative proffered by the
"sky is falling crowd". Why not? Do they not have a valid opposing opinion ? They are just a credentialed as anyone on the proponent side of the
argument.
Why is it that one side always wants to shut down all conversation that they do not agree with?

“When religion and politics travel in the same cart, the riders believe nothing can stand in their way. Their movements become headlong - faster and
faster and faster. They put aside all thoughts of obstacles and forget the precipice does not show itself to the man in a blind rush until it's too
late.”
Frank Hubert
Even though this is a quote from a novel it seems to be accurate in this case. Humans as the heavies in climate change has become a religion.
From the Aljazeera article:
“Protesters held aloft banners and chanted “oily money out” and “cancel the conference,” while some lit yellow and pink smoke flares.
Two activists from the environmental group Greenpeace abseiled down from the roof of the hotel to unfurl a giant banner reading, “Make Big Oil
Pay.”
Here’s some “interesting factoids”:
Russia is the world's second largest oil exporter and is expected to export around 6 million bpd by 2023. The country's oil and gas industry is a
crucial engine of its economy, accounting for more than half of its export revenues.
China is the world’s largest coal producer accounting for more than 50% of the world’s production and use.
Just saying, perhaps those who post here can show pictures of climate protesters with signs critiquing either Russia or China, but I haven’t seen
any!
Saying more than this becomes Politics!

No one talks about it because it's BS, Cliffy. If it were true that more CO2 is cooling the planet, the temperatures wouldn't be soaring to record
temperatures, now would they?

I think you meant to say that denial is most like a religion. Denial is based on fantasy. Acceptance is based on science

Goat & S,
And yet, when peer reviewed papers are posted that demonstrate the holes in your argument, rather than comments from you, just crickets. Dogma that
can’t be debated is a hallmark of religion. Also crickets about Russia and China as the majority of the problem.
Trolls do sound just like crickets!

The cooling affect of clouds was postulated by a very well credentialed scientist One of the "deniers"
I haven't heard any comments on the hundreds of scientists that disagree with the religion of climate hysteria "crickets"?
Lets see, we are extrapolating climate data taken over maybe 1/100,000,000 of the earths lifespan and predicting how the climate will change over the
next 100 years HMMMM
The world has always had warmer and colder times.
Again what happened to the last Ice Age? The world warmed up
How about the oscillating earth axis as a contributory factor to climate change at various latitudes?
Anyone want to dive in on that one?
None of the preachers want to talk about that. I'm listening.
Seems also that NONE of the current crop of predictive tools used by the religion is actually tracking anywhere close to what is actually going on.
Show me one! I think there are about 15-20 to choose from (If the data can be believed).
A new paper just out postulates that the current data is being biased by the algorithm currently in use allowing too much "massaging" for city island
affects overall around the world.
Have any of you read that one?
Its all nothing but GIGO!
Didn't Gore say Florida would be under water by now?
But the palm tree is still above water just as it was 30 years ago.
As usual its easy to try and shut down opposing viewpoints when you can't debate point by point by name calling
Seems that runs rampant around here. .

Goat,
Personally, I listened to Art Bell and kathryn Kuhlman on AM radio because in the ‘70s that was all you could get between Van Horn and San Antonio
at night. I read the National Enquirer because they printed the news the other outlets wouldn’t touch. The story about Gary Hart and his mistress
comes to mind here.

Otis Forecasting Model Failure
GIGO!
Changes in complex systems can’t be forecast until the systems themselves are better understood. Currently most experts admit the weather is not
well understood.
Numerous “why doesn't the actual weather follow our models” articles have been posted here with only crickets in response from a particular group
of posters.
Let’s just do something to prove we care won’t change the outcome or even slow the rate of change! The heavy hitters Russia, China, India and Iran
need to take this seriously in order to make a difference! Note that they currently don’t! Mexico didn’t perhaps Otis will change that!

Hurricane Otis went from being a category 1 tropical storm to being a Category 5 monster hurricane in a matter of hours. Know why, Einstein? Because
the ocean temperature offshore was hotter than it's ever been, which makes hurricanes gain incredible speed incredibly quickly. Know why, Einstein?
Because of global warming caused by man-made climate change.
