Yes, thank you to all those who have served and are serving now, and to their families who serve along with them.
God bless you all.
To my Dad, Fred, a WWII vet, Bronze air medal recipiant, who is interned along with my Mom now at Fort Rosecrans.
Always a special day to go visit with all the flags and flowers.

To me, Memorial Day was never a day to celebrate. No more than Good Friday for a Christian. I take the opportunity to remember with pride those who
served and lost their lives and I have to take exception to the term. "gave their lives." They didn't. Their life was taken by wars designed by
people in warm offices who would faint at the sight of blood.
God Bless those warriors who never intended to be blessed by us, but are. They did pay the hidden cost.

DIDN'T THINK i COULD POST THIS HERE
Jaime is a fairly new Nomad...and I am a mossy back but here were are one......
You guys will never guess what a gal named Jaime and I did this day..............We bought six large American Flags, went to three Overpasses near
Camp Pendleton in Oceanside......and placed the flags so they could be seen above Hwy 5...north and southbound. It was our way of honoring our troops
both living and dead who do so much to allow us the freedom we all possess in America.
Without a doubt had we been in many other major countries around the world the flags would have been immediately removed and in some we would have
been thrown into jail.
Gotta tell you that this blonde, blue eyed gal was totally into honoring the guys and gals who protect us. Sure made this old guy feel wonderful
watching her cry as she waved at the horn blowing vehicles below. This silly girl really taught me something well worth remembering and so did all of
those drivers who honked and waved.
Our country is safe as long as we have these types of action in support of our troops....not necessarily the war, but out guys and gals.
Nothing would do but that we wandered around Oceanside, her hugging and me shaking the hands as we thanked our Marines for their service.
A really meaningful prelude to Memorial Day.....tomorrow
If anyway of you want to duplicate this goose bump raising action......Home Depot has the flags fairly cheap and there are tons of overpasses in
Southern California.......not to late....ever!

Bless those who have and continue to be the vanguard of freedom. Tho the wars may not yield what we may have sought, the beneficiaries are there to
count.
We will never forget! Amen.

I think that's why the ''Fallen'' are called Heroes. They knew the risks, and hidden costs, but stepped forward anyway. For many, there has
always been a higher calling -- passed on from my Dad's generation -- that there is NO greater calling than to serve honorably in the military -- to
serve the United States -- to protect it's citizens.
Some might call that dumb but I call it honorable. That's my Dad's legacy to me.
God Bless us all.

USMC '71-73. But remember, Memorial Day is all about those who gave their lives and the grieving families they left behind.

A belated thanks, Hose, from a World War II vet. You did the right thing.
