Fuel shortage in Norhern Baja

A couple of friends who have places near San Felipe said that all the gas stations there were either closed or had long lines for fuel. They said that there was no problem and plenty of fuel in Mexicali. Apparently there has been a panic in San Felipe because there is fear that Gringos are crossing the border to buy cheap Pemex gas and all the tankers are going there.

We are planning a trip to Gonzaga Bay through Mexicali and San Felipe Friday so we would appreciate anybody with knowledge of this telling us about it.

Just returned from Mulege on Baja 1 and there was no sign of a shortage. Careful of the PEMEX station in Santa Rosalia just south of town, they tried a scam on me but I caught them in time.

The Mexican newspapers are saying that Baja is out of Diesel and it is being rationed and they won' t have any significant quantities until Saturday when a Pemex fuel vessel arrives.
