A and AN
Depends on where you're at.
I noticed that once again last night watching an English (or a British ? ) mystery on PBS.
In addressing THAT question, do we consider our posts to be IN the United States or in Mexico ? IF we say Mexico, then do American or English rules
apply ? What if the person posting is not an American ? In casual conversation, do ALL rules of compostion apply ? How do we classify Internet
discourse ?
Obviously, there are a number of questions that must be decided before we go any further (farther ?).

Where It's AT, Mon
OR, as the Ebonians would say "Where it be".
Back to my previous post.
Do ALL rules of proper written English (or American) grammar apply ? Which ? Is there some enforcement mechanism envisioned ? Will there have to be
an agreement on an official reference text to resolve disputes? Having read and owned many books and articles on the subject, I'm aware that there is
much disagreement among scholars on fine points of grammar. Without a single agreed upon reference, we would be in murky waters.
Will there be a penalty regimen ? One, two, three strikes and you're out ? Permanent or a suspension ?
IF such is determined to be the case, there would probably be a lot fewer posts here. In fact, there are some who would be completely barred from
posting.

Where you're at is a state of mind, not necessarily the same as where you are (located). But I get where you're coming from. |

Should you say a "silent h"? |
So.... would you write, "a Hueneme" or "an Hueneme"?

Sorry, I just couldn't resist.
p.s. For non-Californios, "Hueneme" is pronounced "why-knee-me".

Hey Sharksbaja,
Yep, the Jerome mining town, ex ghost town, though it's debateable. Our population is about 480 or less. Used to have about 2 million tourists a
year, but the economy has taken a toll here, as well, so the tourism is dropping rapidly. I love your use of words, by the way.

I love that place. I collect antique bottles(I'll bet you have some nice ones) and wanted to stay a while. On this trip we were toteing around a 25 lb
turkey on Thanksgiving Day wondering if we would ever find a vacant hotel room to cook it at. No cigars, all were full, everywhere.
We got snowed in at Flagstaff a few days earlier, found no accomodations in Sedona and wandered thru AZ in hopes of any place to eat & bed down.
We looked at Jerome but really did not see a place so we drove on and ended up in Prescott at a hotel where the manager let us use the meeting room
to stay. We cooked up that puppy and man was that a special treat.
A real trip to remember. You must love that endless panoramic view from the side of that great big beautiful mountain.
Now, back to Baja!
edit: Tourism sucks everywhere these days!
