I will be at Hotel Punta Colorada next week for 8 days of fishing/playing. :):)

Anyone know if this new developement is north or South of the hotel?
How far?

I will go check it out and take some pics if close enough to get to on a quad.

Cabo Cortes is east of the Punta Arena lighthouse close to the resort Punta Colorado. It is huge, is a development of GRE/Hansa -- marina, hotels, 6000 houses, etc, etc. -- 7 miles of beach, so far NO BEACH ACCESS -- that is, it is all fenced off so no access for non-owners.

Cabo Riviera is right in front of La Ribera which is west of Punta Colorado

Baja Buzz,

You will drive right by it on the beach road to P Colorada from La Ribera. It is North of P Colorada towards La Ribera.

i wish i could afford to buy at either one of them!
i do not doubt that most of the east cape will eventually be developed much like San Jose has. But that it will peak after my demise, which currently is scheduled around 2038 according to the latest actuarials used to quote my term insurance!!:biggrin::lol:

its all about the genes my friend....paternal grandparents well into the 90s. ate the wrong foods, were overweight. I like my current odds. Like Willie said, there's a lot more old drunks than old doctors so i guess i'll have another round...

As world markets slide and may very well crash, there may be few buyers for such opulence, which in the end may be a good thing, or not.

When I first read the post (by Bajabernie), I failed to read whom it was written by, and, because of the area mentioned I though it was by my buddy Osprey.
Then all this udder stuff come down, and since Osprey lives in the area and probably looks at the proposed development on a regular basis, I feel he is most qualified to discuss it's development or lack-of.

Just my two centavos while I wait for the SC game.

Agree completely.

Didnt realize till later that the fireworks at the beginning had little to do with the development, really.

The merits of the project really need to be discussed in a separate thread, at this point. This one is tainted, IMO.

But you can be the antidote, Osprey.

Become the correspondent on this issue yourself, if you are willing. Keep us abreast of how the developers are selling the project locally and what they are doing.

I say this not knowing exactly how close you are, geographically, to the site.

Mr and Mrs Osprey have a very nice Baja house with a lovely patio filled with beautiful landscaping. The view from this wonderful patio is of the beautiful beach and waterfront.
There is nothing of consequence built between Osprey's casa and the shore - for now; but this is exactly where they are planning the project, in his face.

In a quaint town of dirt roads and sometimes services, the development would bring increased traffic from construction and sales, additional strain on services and more; possibly on a par with LB.

When I stopped in La Ribera for an unannounced visit, the first place I asked for his whereabouts, everyone knew him and one fellow offered to lead the way. Osprey has lived in this little town long enough to be a part of the place, it is his place.

When you buy property with land in between you and your view you always run the risk of one day losing that view, no matter how remote your property or promises made. I learned that hard lesson myself many years ago. We all would like to have some slice of earth with a view to keep just for ourselves but unfortunately those "slices" become smaller and smaller and begin to run out over time...

In my case it was worth it. The house/lot was only $25,000, the view has lasted 14 years (the good ones that get closer to when I take the dirt nap) and I never imagined the little village would not grow. I knew, sooner or later I would lose my precious vista but things conspired to hold back the development of the town -- realty/realtor problems, the growth and popularity of Cabo and SJDC and La Paz, the north winds, the economy, fear of crime, etc. etc. Now, because I'm high on a bluff, my view will be of the whole marina. The value of the lot should go to about $300,000 dollars (neighbor's are listed from 500K to 800K). Not a big deal for me because I would rather have the tranquility than the money. My fear was and is that this group, like Fonatur, might not finish what they begin. Global and U.S. changes for the worst could be the culprit this time, not boondoggle, land pimping or mis planning. I live right in the middle of all these changes and as they happen I'll be glad to report to the board as I do now to a host of interested local gringo property owner. (Thanks Diver and Hook)
