Don't l;et them get away. They are great Smoked over Charcoal!!

Also if you skin them, soak in "Skin so Soft" for 24 hours you can get $5 to $15 Dollar a foot for the Skins.

I know you have to do something. We used to skin them and nail the skin to a board. After a few days, they were as hard as fibreglass.
That's all I know.

Again, use Skin So Soft after you scrape the inside of the Skin and if soaked for at least 24 Hours it will not stiffein up.
There is a place located in Farmers Branch Texas that use to give me $5 to 10 Dollars a foot for good ones. Also there are several places in and around Sweetwater Texas that will give you lots of Info.

Taste and feel is very much like Chicken.

If you need to save the complete Head, then take a glas and "Milk" the Venom from the Fangs . then remove the Fangs by using a small pair of Sidecutters to snip as close to the upper head bone as possible.

Out North of Loreto toward "Doctor;s Point" you cann fing lots of good Rattlers expecially in the Arroys leading into the Water. Look around any Debris up aganist a standing Bush.

Good Luck.

It is not the ones you find that are the problem. It's the one you don't find that finds you!!

I agree with Mono, leave em be. They fulfill useful functions such as catching rodents!

The last time I had rattlesnake I paid $20 lb in Ramona, CA. It came from Sweetwater, TX. Not enough meat for the price. As I remember there are three rope like meat sections down the back side. The meat is good, somewhat like chicken but too many bones to get enough for a good meal.

If you encounter rattlesnakes too close to your house for comfort it is very easy to relocate them to a more remote area. Just take a plastic garbage can and lay it on it's side next to the snake and use a stick to push the snake into it, tip it up, put the lid on, and take the snake away. Over the years I have relocated many in this way.

They were always a treat on our camping experieces in the Dakota Badlands.

The original 'foot-long' snack.

Since we have moved out here to the beach full time, we see snakes less and less. Having three dogs around is probably as good a deterrent as the garlic method some of the locals use. When I do find one nearby we use the trashcan method and then relocate it back several hundred yards. Once a good spot is found I just tip it over and wish it well. The first few times were a bit nerve racking but once I got comfortable with the technique it has gotten easier each time.

We have this Mexican made stuff on stock, its a powder and far superior to anything on the American market!

http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=32785#pid3469...

Very little incidence of anaphalaxis, a lot of people have bad reactions to the stuff they use in the States!
