Thanks David ... at least now I know where we are talking about !!
IMO: Americans are proud, Brazilians are proud, The Argentine are reknowned for being outpspokenly proud, Italians are proud, The South Africans are
proud (esp. of the vuvuzela) - NO ONE likes to be told their way of doing something is the best .... as a teacher of English to many foreigners over
the years, I taught tolerance. Nowhere is necesarily better - just DIFFERENT. The negative comments by some of the tourists who visit our country
would make you quake in your boots ...

Skeet, Skeet, Skeet, my poor ignorant man. I'm going to try to explain something to you, so I need you to pay close attention. Are you with me? Hang

Did you notice the little """" marks I used around the offending words? Those are called quote marks. They are used when one quotes another person's

That "Filthy and Scummy use of words by Tripper" aren't MY words, you marooon, they are the words of the poster who originated this thread. You did
read the original post, didn't you? If not, or if you've forgotten if you did or not, go back and read it now, and then I'll expect you to apologize
(yeah, right, like that's going to happen).
I've tried to keep this simple for you, but if you have any questions on how to use quotes, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm here for you, buddy.
As for what this poster does for a living. I'm a military retiree, so that definitely takes me out of the category you usually harp against, hu?

No, no, no, Dennis. It isn't E. LA we have fallen for, but rather, resent the comparison between that place and our beloved Baja. Ooops, there I go

And I, for one, don't consider starting a rumor about raping Americans in CC "nothing." And I know Skeeter doesn't, either.

Apology accepted, and appreciated. My point was that the original poster stated matter-of-factly that tourists were being raped in your beloved city,
which I questioned. I wanted to see references, but so far, none have been forthcoming.

I think the term, "Raping or Raped," has to be taken in a metaphorical sense rather than literal.
Rape, as in sexual assault, has never been mentioned or implied. I think it's disingenuous to dwell on that term for it's literal interpretation here
in this thread.
Skeet may not get it, but I think you do and did from the beginning.
Here is a good example of what I'm saying:

Two insults from two seemingly different people -- at least two log-ons disrespecting Irene.
What's up with the veiled accusations towards a Nomad running a RV park/motel in Vicente?
''Honesty factor?''
What is it with the cheap pot shots at Irene and Posada don Diego?

Au contraire, mon ami. I have to say that I took him literally and not figuratively.
One of the examples you provided seems to support my understanding of the word. In the article "The Rape of Nanking," it states in the opening
paragraph that the Japanese Imperial Army killed over 100,000 civilians and raped from 20,000-80,000 women. That would, in my opinion, be a fair use
of the word.
But to trivialize it in the way that the first poster did would never occur to me. I wouldn't equate the literal trama that a woman who is raped must
go through with the simple shakedown of passing tourists taking place in CC.
But then, I've been the oddball out most of my life, and the fact that nobody (but Skeet under my influence) picked up on it seems to indicate that
your POV is more inline with the mainstream.
I wonder what your average Baja Nomad woman would think of this discussion?
As for you thinking that I "got it" from the beginning but apparently just wanted to stir the pot some, you'll realize as you get to know me better
that I don't put on airs of stupidity just to make a point; I'm actually that stupid.

Baja Tourist Raping and other Ravages
OK.
There is weasel room on "The Rape of Nanking" because there were a lot of ACTUAL Sexual Rapes.
Does this mean that the "Rape of the Environment" is OUT ?
How about "Psychological" Rape ? "The Rape of the Mind" ? No physical penetration there.
MORE to follow.

There are a number of words in the English language that are hot- button. They trigger a reflexive response. I'll not list them here. But the pity is
that our language is rich with multiple meanings, but too many people viscerally react to a word. Methinks that those who would jump on the use of a
word have never attended a comedy club.

Think about it!
Charged words are used to "Win People to your side of the Question"", that is the reason so many of the Young Weak-Minded use it.
There are so many uneducated Youngsters, that the ones wanting Control{Socialist etc} use the charged words to get control of their Weak Minds.
After gettin that control then the "Protestss' Start over very small matters., but look at the control as the Blabber-Mouthed Protesters starting
shouting about things they have no Knowledge about..
What will they be like at 50 years of age?? Living on Welfare??

Saw Lenny Bruce at the Hungry I in SF once. He took stage waving one of those mics with a ball on the end over the crowd. "I have just been arrested
in Chicago for doing this; they called it a public masturbatory gesture". He was obviously blessing the crowd with metaphorical holy water. He went on
"now where is the obscenity?, whose mind is it in?".
Prescient he was, too bad he also was such an incouragable junkie.

Dirty, dirty, dirty D-I-R-T-Y calzones y playeras puede viste. What does the "winner" get from this diatribe and who is the judge? After all is typed
and griped the electrons go to sleep in some annoymous server and life goes on...
Nothing has changed, not even a single opinion. Coin a new phrase RUTTING. Butting heads and there isn't even a doe. A beautiful summer day,
resplendent with an aroma of possibly heading south of the border, heading for the nearest enramada, ordering an ice cold cerveza, plate of cebiche
and watch the pelicans diving for their lunch. Listening to the sizzle and crackling of the desert in the mid day sun, a distant shrill of a cicadia.
The warm rich odor of mesquite, and sage. Zopilotes wheeling and soaring on updrafts. The wax and wan of a car radio blaring ranchera music as it
rattles its way down a disty terreceria.
The lapping of wavelts against a gold sand beach, the tang of salt air fills the nostrils. Offshore a bait ball grows and shrinks, zigzagging its way
to oblivion.
No telephones, no opinions, no news is excellent news, no marching on enemy strongholds with fellow bearers of a sympathetic opinion. All that is
worthless here.
