you rate them, seeing that you actually stray off the blacktop. |
Sadly, I have nothing good to say other than they work good in the sand and quiet on the highway... otherwise they are junk... What the Tacoma has are
the Rugged Trail T/A's (called 'Rugged Fails' by folks on the Tacoma World forums) and I have had 2 flats from sharp rocks so far... one at 13,000
miles and another on a different tire at 16,000 miles , last weekend. Before the trip I saw a screw in one of my tires and had it patched before we
left, a different tire than the other two... So 3 of 4 BFGs have had failures... The screw may have been unavoidable, but for rocks on a graded road
to pucture steel belted tires that are only half worn or newer is rediculous.
Many here love the All Terrain T/As from BFG... but I have seen and had sidewall failures on them... too many to ignore.
I hope to get the new General Grabbers, if I can swing it...

I sent you a cake DavidK
Happy Birthday.
The cake was shipped to your campsite at Shell Beach. Did you receive it yet?
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Darn it, no!
We weren't there... actually Shell beach is were Russ lives (Punta Chivato)... Maybe he got it?
We went to El Rosario and Las Pintas for my birthday... Shell Island would have been our next choice, however!
Thanks for the kind wishes!

so WHY does BFG rule baja score stuff?
are they a diff class of tire over what you have installed, DK??? you get what you pay for of course - what am i missing here?
for my off road aircraft tires - dirt strips with kick up rocks and other exciting stuff - i rely on michelins special 6 ply for 6:60 wheels.
when i have a flat it is not a pretty picture...been there. the day is over usually...hahahahah. good thing i carry emergency adult bevs and a
sleeping bag!

The tires from BFG that win Baja races are NOT made for highway use or even sold to non-racers... they are the Baja T/A. Sure, some may also use
street legal BFGs like the All Terrain T/A in the other classes. The General Grabber was also such a tire, but recently made a DOT approved highway
version thet looks just like the racing tire... that is what I would like.
I did not install the BFGs (Rugged Trail T/As), they are the tire Toyota puts on the Off Road TRD model Tacomas. They are obviously a lesser grade
tire than the popular All Terrrain T/A, as they last only 30,000 miles, if that... and get flats easily.
