Hello Taco de Baja
People have been riding the inside since at the least the late 60's. The outside was not secret, nobody had the cojones to go outside until Jeff Clark did. Now there are lots of guys with the cojones. Besides, it is an easy place to get too.

i wonder if jeff clark regrets the fact he let the cat out of the bag ? i agree with biz...as far as earning it. many of us go for the solitude, not to hang out with more people. before the internet, surf reports, etc. going to certain areas was guaranteed to be sans gringos(or locals). what sucks is being posted up somewhere and having a crew pull in being loud and stupid, thanking the gps coordinates and internet for getting them for the first time. they don't realize what efforts those already there had put forth to get there.(eg, years of exploration, taking wrong turns, running out of gas, having to build your own road, withstanding floods, hurricanes, etc.)

agreed. the world is shrinking..... i appreciate the technology that allows me to peer into the crystal ball, MANY days before the local weather forecaster dude tells the world how the high surf advisory is in effect. by then i'm usually all packed and waiting for the alarm clock.....

i used to chart hurricanes in the early/mid eighties using a weather radio. twice in the last calendar year we have SCORED, for days, based on technology and intuition.

i'm still of the opinion that baja makes you earn her respect.

Cool. I been stuck working from home office since first of year. As COB and head dishwasher I have had to convene 'board meetings' twice a day some days. :saint:

Almost makes up for NOT getting south.

I saw this guy in Woodys old neighborhood, I'd say he had a greybeard.

When I lived in the OC I would surf regularly on weekdays at Old Mans San Onofre. There was a group of guys twice my age ranging from seventy on up. One guy would spend 45 minutes on the beach stretching doing yoga and warming up then paddle out on a big board with two handles on the deck so he could turtle roll and hold on tight when he got caught inside on big sets. He was 84 years old at the time and had two rebuilt knees and one rebuilt hip. Turns out a few of them knew my father from his days hanging at Killer Dana and San O in the 50's -60's. I brought my dad up from SD once for an after surf bonfire and listened to them all talk story. Wish I would have had a tape recorder. My dad surfed until he was 60. I still have a 12'6" board he made in Whitey Harrison's barn in 1951. Good times.

Now where's that GPS map?
