What is the oldest guy you ever saw on a board?

When I lived in the OC I would surf regularly on weekdays at Old Mans San Onofre. There was a group of guys twice my age ranging from seventy on up. One guy would spend 45 minutes on the beach stretching doing yoga and warming up then paddle out on a big board with two handles on the deck so he could turtle roll and hold on tight when he got caught inside on big sets. He was 84 years old at the time and had two rebuilt knees and one rebuilt hip. Turns out a few of them knew my father from his days hanging at Killer Dana and San O in the 50's -60's. I brought my dad up from SD once for an after surf bonfire and listened to them all talk story. Wish I would have had a tape recorder. My dad surfed until he was 60. I still have a 12'6" board he made in Whitey Harrison's barn in 1951. Good times.

Now where's that GPS map?

You referring to Dana Point here? If so.....Wow! We used to hang out at Scotties Cove....few miles past

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

This is Mouse.

Mouse is one of the original OB lifeguards. he is in his mid 70's now and still gets in the water damn near every day, either paddling, swimming or surfing.

we should all aspire to be like Mouse when we grow up.

This may be the most salient quote of this entire thread...

Surfin was a really big deal when I was in high school, '63-64. So I tried it a few times. My knee caps couldn't handle the pain. I always wondered how others tolerated that so well.
