OK Fam:
Please tell me what damage has been done to say Winslow Arizona.

Yosemite Natl Park

The Waters of the Sea of Cortez are the same since they Shut off the Colo. River. It did change the tides somewhat.,
Now if you drive up the Coast of Oregon you can see all the Clear cutting,

And if you go to Victoria BC you can see a Bay full of Bull Pukey.

I and I have a Degree and some experienc and I do not see "irreparable Damage to the Planet>
Look at how the Shrimp Industry has recovered and rasing Shrimp, the Salamon Industry,

Fam : How are people going to eat??

Skeet:
What happened to the buffalo herds in the 1800s? Did the great plains environment change for the better when the buffaloes disappeared?
What happened to the passenger pigeon in the 1800s?
Why does an anoxic dead zone periodically form in the gulf of mexico off of the mississippi?
What happened to the pacific salmon runs in 1900s?
Does even one natural atlantic salmon still exist?
What happened to the cod stocks of the atlantic ocean between 1600s and 1900s?
How has deforestation in amazon basin affected the environment of the amazon basin?
What has caused many of the reefs in the caribbean and pacific to die off in the past few decades?
Is the vaquita or sea turtle population in the sea of cortez a good indicator of health of the sea of cortez?
Is shrimp fishing in the sea of cortez a harm or benefit for natural resources in the sea of cortez?
Has man affected the global climate through greenhouse gas emissions?
Is a dammed and controlled mississippi river a healthy river?
Why should govt spend trillions trying to control rivers so idiots can build in flood zones? Wouldn't the rivers be healthier if people just built on higher ground and we let the rivers flow where they prefer?

the shrimp industry would not have had to "recover" if it had been handled sustainably in the first place. Same with Salmon.

Personally, I don't see how shrimp and salmon farming = "ain't nothin' wrong with the ocean" if everything was just dandy, we wouldn't be raising shrimp in farms in the middle of ARIZONA.

There has been a lot of change in Northeastern Arizona. Many new people coming to live here, pushing out the native species...the coyotes and wolves get hungry...look for something else to eat, somewhere else to live. Houses are built where water had once collected, where animals came to have their young. The seasons are different, the apple trees no longer produce apples as the weather has shifted, which in turn kills the bees and other pollinators, which in turn equals no apples to eat.

You ask how are people to eat? Sustainably. Grow your own food. Catch only what you need to eat. Do not rely solely on the packaged conveniences that are sold in your local market. Live with the land, the air, the sea. Be kind to it, and it will feed you for eternity. Hard work? yes. But that hard work insures that there will be a planet for future generations.

The sea isn't a free for all ~ it needs to be nourished and taken care of. Do you really believe that the massive oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico have no lasting effects? Do you really believe that "everything is just fine" after the nuclear disasters in Japan? You don't think that all of that in the ocean will change EVERYTHING? There's your irreparable damage, sir.

Yea, squirrels are yummy. Just gotta know how to cook 'em. Not gonna go into how you kill 'em. That would, no doubt, brand me as some sort of monster. But it requires a gun and steady aim. Then you've got to skin 'em, gut 'em etc. They're really good, fried, smothered, BBQ'ed, cooked with dumplings, etc.

Cypress ~ I have a friend in Tallahassee that ate squirrels. He absolutely loved them. But, you know, he didn't just shoot them to shoot them. He shot the ones he needed to eat.

Sustainable.

We have rabbits on our property. They are everywhere. My husband wants to eat them. I say go ahead! But make sure you only shoot what you need, and you have to clean and cook them :)

Sustainable.

goat (I can't believe I'm saying this) I concur.

Fam: You have some good words but you are over looking some things: For example:

What would have Happened if Los Angeles had not "Stolen" all the Water from the Owens Valley??{Even had a little shooting war over that in 1931}

Even through it would be interesting to see what would have happened if no one was allowed to build on or near the river.

Coyotes spread Disease of all kinds that can kill People, I prefer to see the People Live.

Would you who live in one of the most beautifull places in the World move to La Purisma if it was found that you living so close to the Water was killing the Lobster?????

Fam: You have to be kidding if you think the Japanese People will not repair and rebuild in a few short years.
Look what they have done since the Two Bombs fell on their Cities,
As far as the Gulf Spill I know that the Sea will correct it over a period, just like I know that the Giant Squid taken out of Loreto and Mulege by the Tons will be Back.

The one and only one thing that concerns be is the Supply of Fresh Water.
But if Canada will decide to make some Money they could send some of their Water to Mexico and start a new Country of Food Producers,

I love how you pick through my response to find more bait for your rantings :)

What "would" have happened? I prefer not to get rhetorical. There's no point to that.

Again, what "would" have happened...that speculation is not relevant here.

Coyotes have as much right to this planet as we do, possibly more so if they were looked at by your standards of what makes one "good" ~ not on dope, not out for just money, and they eat what they want. They can stay.

Again, you are speculating..."if" it was found that I was causing irreparable damage to the place where I lived, just by being there? ~ then yes, I would gladly move.

Rebuilding and repairing til their fingers bleed will not fix the damage done to the ocean due to the nuclear waste. That is what is irreparable. Not their homes.

In "correcting" the damage done by humans, the sea will never return to it's prior state. That just isn't possible. Failed logic.

Fresh Water. Now you are talking sense. But then, there you go again...instead of outsourcing for water, why not conserve what we have and live sustainably?

LOL, Skeet it seems that helping someone out of pain brought on the whole world's trouble to you,LOL!! Jeez, Skeet doesn't have the huge fishing fleets that are coming from Japan and China taking way more than they can really use. Skeet is not causing the world's ozone issue like China and other countries are doing but America alone will solve it by not polluting, YEA RIGHT!! Have a little heart here as Skeet can only take soooo much negative attacks before he really enjoys these attacks, HMMMM?
By the way Skeet, You did the right thing and most of know back in the 70s there we no limits on fishing in a lot places. Take Care Amigos and remember being friendly to others never hurts you. Additionally, people should not mistake "Kindness for Weakness!" Enjoy the FUN TIMES before you are not able to amigos, as with every close call of death comes the oppurtunity to LIVE THE SWEET LIFE!! Man, Skeet, so much ignorance in such a confined space.

Growing up in La Paz in the 1960s, I spent a lot of time on the malecon. One vivid memory I still have is of the huge schools of sardines that lived all along the shore. Take a walk with me along that same stretch of waterfront today and tell me nothing but the color of the water has changed. And if the sardines are gone, they're but an indicator of lots of other species that are also in deep trouble--just ask any oldtimer fisherman who lives off his catch.

Bet your degree isn't in anything remotely related to the environment.

PS Don't you get tired of self-congradulations? It really is meaningless, you know.

Thanks tripper for the "flash back"... it must have been something.. never got over to the "other side" to see it at that time ... Cabo a few times for fishing starting in 86.. but not over "there" at that time.. we used to just camp, fish, clam and have nice fires... late 50's as kids ... on the other side
