Sally, Anne was 55 at the time, your young Juanita has an even better chance. It sounds as if Juanita had gone into septic shock. Been there, too.
The doctors have to use such a variety of antibiotics to get a handle on infections. Her white count will come up, the neutranpenia vanish and
amazingly Juanita's immune system once it kicks in will sweep the infection from her body within 24 hours. 3 days from now she could be fully
recovered from this infection. It is fantastic when you see how much better Juanita's immune system works than a whole hospital full of doctors and
antibiotics.
Septic shock, which she likely went into, is exceedingly dangerous but if you are seeing the slightest rise in her white counts at this time, well
then, I assure, she will be fine.
You mention Juanita is in remission. So, she has gone through one month of induction and how many consolidations? For most AML, the is induction and
then as long as she can stand it, three one month hospital stays of consolidations.

Hi Gene.Juanita is 43 yrs. old Her symptoms started some years ago, maybe 3 or4.She has been here in the states since I picked her up in San Diego
this last June.She could not walk, had pneumonia and was nearly dead.She has been in and out of the cancer center since then,battleing the beast.This
last hospital stay has been40 days.She is not in remission , but was before this one.As of today her white count is up to 2.0 She has a lung mass,
which I hope to find out tommorow what it is and if it can be dealt with.I think I just might need to call you tomorrow.Sounds like you know what this
does to us...thanks Gene, Sally

Anne had a similar mass, vanished when white count hit 3.White count at 2.0 means she'll likely be at 2.5, maybe 3 tomorrow. Good news. Our experience
with the same scenarios were that when Anne would hit 3.0, all infections would vanish. We went through 4, 3 week periods of neutrapenia. I don't
think most people comprehend how dangerous this time is, life hangs by a thread.
I was at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and UCLA 24/7 for many months. Made friends with other patients, many/most made it through what was difficult
and are now well. I hope to be of some help and offer optimism to you.
I got your email, I'll call you while you are on your walk tomorrow.

The latest!!
She has done it again!!The preliminary bone marrow biopsy shows NO CANCER!!!She is coming home tonite and will be going back next Tuesday for
platelets, blood test, etc.We should know then how long she will be out.She is very weak as her muscles have atrophied after being in bed for over a
month.I went and found her a walker and a cane to help her until she gets her muscles working again. Thanks once more Nomads for all your support and

She is back in the hospital.She had 1 1/2 days out , filled with pain from Diverticultis.I know first hand how painful this can be as I suffered with
it for years.My insurance would not cover surgery unless it was life threatening, so instead, I would go to the ER and get IVed antibiotics for 6-8
hrs and sent home.The last bout was the worst and I ended up with abcessed diverticuli, which burst ,and into emergency surgery.I was in the hospital
for a month, sent home with a bag(on my stomach) and liquid TPC( In a backpack, battery powered, pic line)home to heal without eating for two
months.It was pure hell. I so hope that Juanitas case can be corrected right away.Iwill post an update tomorrow.Thanks Nomads, for your continued, and
much appreciated support!! Sally

She's getting out again tomorrow!Man those doctors and nurses really know their stuff! Diverticulitis under control and being given
hemaglobin.Hopefully in the next year or so she will be going back to Baja, where her heart is at home.

She is home and doing well.She has to wear a mask at all times(yuk), but much better than being in a disease filled hospital.I have a box of organic
fruit and vegis being delivered here for her so she can start bumping up her immune system.Thank you So.Coast Farms!!! It is gratis from them and
Rebecca Noble,Nomad Don Jorges' better half.The outpouring of generosity has me and especially Juanita , in awe of all who have helped her thru this
very difficult time (I picked her up in SD last June!)Next step, bone marrow transplant.Keep up the good energy Nomads!!! Hugs, Sally
