Snake bite story (possibly Apocraphyl)
Two old cowboys, best pals for years, out on the range, sit on a log for a rest and rattler sneaks up and bites one ol boy right between the legs-
most vulnerable spot a snake could bite.
The other ol boy saddles up, rides back to town as hard as he can ride- runs into the doctor's office, tells the doc the bad news, doc shakes his head
and says "Got a big emergency and cannot help- but here is what you do.... ride back real quick, take this scalpel, make a small "x" cut and suck out
the venom"
Ol boy rides back, pal is now lying on the ground clutching his throbbing part in agony and gasps, "Quick, what did the doc say?"
Other ol boy looks down, sadly shakes his head and sez, "Doc says you are gonna die"

with a good antisnake bite relieve on this thread, except to seek medical help..which not going to happen in the bush/desert/moutain's..so I'll go
with the ignition spark..as I have read enough good reports on the result's..K & W

That method of sucking the Posion went out with high button shoes . I f the person Sucking the Venom has bad teeth they are subject to die before
the person that was bit.

Well, not quite. We as EMT's were still carrying "suction cups" around in our Snake Bite Kits 16 years ago (when I retired)------but you are right in
that it is NOT the recommended action today I understand.

For me the Cotton Mouth Moccison is the most Dangerous to come in contact with. If you know about them Please be Carefull!!
Another snake is the "Coach Whip" which can actually "Whip you if you get close enough. All snakes should be handles with care.
I am hoping that the snake I planted on Catalana will cross beed with the Texas Balck
diamonds with out Rattlers, then I can take several of them and transplant in the Dens around Sweetwater to see what will happen.
Will be interesting to see if they will have Rattles or Not.

Skeet, isn't that messin' with the natural order of life?
Maybe not, afterall dogs and cats were created by humans seletive and cross breeding wild animals. Dogs and cats are man's best friends, now! Maybe
Skeet's cross species snakes will be some future generation pet (or taste treat)?

A "Coach Whip" is an amazing snake. Have seen two. One of 'em went up a tree faster than I can type this. They're very fast. Their belly scales makes
a buzzing sound as they move across the ground. They're very fast!

Saw and photographed one by San Gregorio (SE of San Borja)... They are called that name because of their speed, so a photo was lucky! http://vivabaja.com/401/page6.html

Are you trying to grow rattles on Baja snakes
or develop no-rattle Texas snakes??
If the former, I think you should leave ecology to work itself out without your help,
If the latter, I suspect that your popularity index will suffer some around the old Texas rancho the first time one of them "Silent Sams" nuzzles up
along some unsuspecting ankle and does his business....]
Just my observation, but it might have some very unforseen consequences.
