Regarding the following post:

"I'm preparing a letter to send to various people demanding the resignation of TJ's "chief " of thieves . I hope you'll join me in sending a clear message . The last (reiterated) paragraph to me says it all. There is an acceptance attitude that this is normal. By the way , an acquaintance of mine was involved in a similar act. They never reported it and they never went back. It ruined his wife emotionally . The press needs to hear of each and every incident and we need to let Mexico know how we feel w our pocket books."

That was indeed a terrible incident. It was reported in the San Diego Union-Tribune this morning. When one sends a letter, should it be signed "Anonymous" or would it be more effective if one used his name?

A few more details

Today's SD Union Trib article. Note that they used her buying prescription drugs without a Mexican prescription as the initial reason for the "shakedown" setup.

As a matter of fact, I can think of an entirely appropriate punishment for this particular sex offender; I believe that in this case, the eye for an eye sort of thing might apply.

Dear Stephanie

things are not what they seem

cultural, deep, resentment conspires on defenseless victims who think they travel in safety.

When travelling in Baja Norte, BEWARE.

Jesse. I agree, to some extent. I am not in fear of a "shakedown" by the police, in the U.S. The police, in Baja, all seem to have their own little fifedom. I am more in fear of the police than any other entity in Mexico. That's a shame.

Its no secret that in Mexico the most morally repugnant and shameful jobs are:

1.-Police officer
2.-Politician

I would rather clean toilets than be a cop in Mexico, i couldn?t live with myself knowing what people think of me.

That cop that raped that women, will get buttraped over and over again once he makes it to the state pen, that should be punishment enough.

I just used the address that Stephanie had posted on another thread. Mine was not returned....at least not yet. I called for the resignation of Diana Escalante, the person whose quote showed that police extortion is common and an accepted part of the tourist experience. They have a long ways to go to get rid of corruption....a long ways....

You know what? Nobody has attempted to answer that original question on this thread: ?What the f*** is wrong with these people?? Just what exactly is going on psychologically in their heads that would cause them to do such a thing? It is hard to imagine any amount of hatred or anything like that that would cause me to rape a woman ? much less a woman who is with her family. I hope the investigation is going smoothly and that there is enough credible evidence to convict these creeps.

Hey Packo!

Maybe its cultural. They think harming Americans is OK and they can get away with it because we (mex nationals) all hate Americanos?

Watch and listen to their media...they TEACH hatred towards "Norte Americanos"!

What say you?

OK, over on Fred Metcalf's discucssion board you are called Jeff. Here you want to remain anonymous. Over on Fred's board, you are not getting good vibes. Here you think someone has disrespected you by calling you names.

How about you registering and someone may call you what you want (no promises).
