This photo was just sent to me by my neighbors, taken from the deck on my house.

We sure hope the folks living up on this hill evacuated!

No, Doug's pix were taken right on the Carratera La Bufadora - right below Junior's.

Doesn't look like the wind is blowing there in Cantu, and they have a good water supply. They should be ok. Thanks for the pictures.

UPDATE: The winds have died down. They were able to drive the is that they saved every home. Cantu has been saved! The road (Carratera La Bufadora) has been reopened. The fire did jump the road at one point to the lagoon side but it looks like they were ready for that. We have phone service but not electricity (on our neighbor's generator right now). CFE is already out there working on it.

Like I said before, there are no large trees up there to really put the fuel to the fire.

Any update on the fires? We're looking at the pictures trying to figure out where our house is in all of it. We're in Cantu right across from the police station. Nothing but "stuff" if our house burns but the poor people of Cantu.

Thanks for any info.

To visit - we hope soon. Were there for a couple of days in June. Probably won't ever be able to live there again. Our kids are in Idaho and we've ended up with stressful jobs here that keep us tied down. Retirement? Maybe. Moises, our neighbor, watches over the house and keeps close tabs on things for us.

Miss it terribly. Are you living there now?

at this moment, all is looking quiet here. Many hours of complete boredom interrupted by a couple of hours of complete terror...The moon is looking full, the skies are looking clear. We are all hoping and praying for a night without incident...although there is still no electricity. That we can do without!

Was just going to tell you all I wish we were there. And now with the power back on, that's even more reason to be there. Enjoy.

Thanks for all who provided pictures and updates. It really helps when you're far away and have property nearby as well as friends in your neighborhood.

Pic of the Staging Area...

This was in the soccer field headed out toward Punta de Estero; these guys did a fantastic job today! And as you can see, there were lots of them from every kind of service.

I would be willing to bet that Sr. Alejandro Pabloff was right down there in the middle of the mix. Bless that man's heart.

Thank you for the updates.
