I believe most dogs are pretty smart...Maybe the dog knew danger was very close by and took the appropiriate action to protect his people.

First of all, if this story is real I'm happy you are ok and nobody got hurt.:wow:

However, I find it hard to believe that you didn't investigate who closed the door and "so went went back to bed":?::?::?: Also no mention of anything being taken or moved:?::?::?: Pretty strange for a "dog trained to corner a person" to be so meek under this condition.

Sorry , I find this hard to believe. No offence Gypsy Jan, if you have that dog around for a "TRAINED GUARD DOG" I hope you saved the receipt from when you bought him cause it's time to take him back. Wish I cound just go back to bed after knowing a stranger had just been within feet of my bed while I slept thruogh it all. Next time maybe you should leave cookies and milk for him. Pleasent dreams :(:(:(

well said,, I couldnt believe this either

Sorry a dog "trained to corner someone and start barking" doesn't respond to this situation with silence.

I think something was lost in the translation here. Jan, of all people, doesn't tell stories just to hear herself talk. Give her a chance to clarify things.

Maybe the DOG leaned against the door, causing it to close. :light:

I agree -- let her explain before biting her head off. Geez!

Jan has lots of friends and credibility on the BajaNomad. Obviously she is shaken and is tending to other things (herself, hopefully). Give her time. She will return and explain.

Now I am remembering why the Nomads scare me so.

Geez, the GJs have enough going on without people making judgements on their actions or that of their beloved pooches.

Be kind people.

OK,OK:tumble:

I didn't mean to bite her head off. As I said in an eariler post "Im sorry if I'm wrong and I'm glad everyone is safe".

I'm just haveng trouble believing the story as told. I've never had the pleasure of meeting Gypsy Jan and I didn't know she is a woman. I can certainly understand either a woman or a man not wanting to confront an intruder. But I would think one would at least try to figure out who it was, freind or foe:?: Maybe a quick look out the window??

As far as the trained guard dog..... friend or foe, it should bark when it hears any noise outside the house until it identifies who it is :?: I thought that was the main purpose of having a dog, especially in Mexico

I didn't mean to be mean hearted by disbelieving her story. I'm just concerned about somebody posting a false story on "our" site for the purpose of either getting attention or piling on with the current media hype. "Our Baja" has suffered enough with out that kind of stuff going on. There are people shutting down business and destroying lives down there. This is seriuos stuff people :fire::mad:

So Gypsy Jan talk to us.

Please accept my apologies if I misinterpreted your story.;D

OK, enough groveling and spreading of kindness. I'll now step down from the soap box and allow someone else to speak their mind :bounce::lol::bounce:

The box is all yours..............:saint:

GJ would NEVER start a false story here or anywhere, that is NOT who she is. If she says this happened then I for one believe her. She has always been honest and upfront with everyone here and is obviously quite shaken by the entire event.

Again, I never met her and I hope I'm wrong.
If I'am, I'll voluteer to go down on one of my precious few days off and help her install the motion dectector or alarm of her choice. Want to come over and help noproblemo2 ?? I'd love to meet any nomads down there. ..
Hey, what a great excuse for a party. "Gypsy Jan's first annual alarm party". I've got a bottle of tequila and a platter of carnitas to start with....:bounce::lol::bounce:...Let's do it, for real. OK??

There' s one way for us to start fighting this problem. Everybody pitch in and help each other install alarms. WOW, how about that? Think of the number of parties we could all have and get to know each other while helping to protect all Nomads..........:yes::yes:

I think they left out the parts that might get people too worried about coming down or living down here. I have a friend living in Baja Malibu and they have had several burglaries also, seems like some of the same situations. He has a security system and two german shepards that will make you wish you had picked another house. Top it off if he catches you as years in special operations in the service will probably make the dog situation seem a better choice,LOL. Lessen the odds by putting blocks or locks behind windows, sliding doors, use dead bolts to stop jimming issues and don't let others play, pet or feed your dog if you are counting on them as a guard dog. Glad nobody got hurt. My wife and I are living our dream staying for a number of months here in Las Gaviotas just up the road from Rosarito.
Again, everyone needs to think safety, walk around the place you are staying in, see where you know a teenager could climb and get in then harden the entry to prevent such break ins. Be Safe, Be Watchful, and then have all the FUN YOU CAN!!!
