Bayless has two Chicago restaurants. Frontera and Topolobambo.

True story- Three years ago, we were in Chicago visiting my wife's son who had just graduated Northwestern and was starting a job there at JP Morgan. We agreed to take him to dinner at Frontera. Called for a reservation and was told it was closed to the public that evening. Barrack and Michelle Obama were having their anniversary dinner there. It's supposedly their favorite restaraunt.

As for you Nomads in SOCAL, and especially for Ken, Bayless opened a restaurant on Melrose in LA last May. We haven't been there yet, but are planning to go soon.

Jesse,
We have rented a house in April in La Paz and our planning on coming to your place as have read so much here on Nomads about it. We are going to be there April 4th until the 11th, when will Chef Bayless be filming his show.

Felicidades, Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I met Rick in Oaxaca ten years ago, at a restaurant a friend of mine owns. He cooks and writes books with her.

And to be honest, he will be totally inspired by your wonderful "Paceno Cuisine". I am sooooooooooo pleased for you. :saint:

If you're on TV, you still have to pay your bill. That's the way Rick and Jesse do these things.
Good try, Mike.

Thanks everybody, i am so excited Baja food is getting its due attention. Great taco stands, restaurants and chefs from TJ to Los Cabos. We have great seafood, olive oil, herbs and veggies, beef, lamb, the works. In 10 years everyone its going to know Baja has some of the best food in Mexico.

These past 2 yrs have been extremely difficult for us, as it has been for many of you. Its great to finally start to see things pick up a little bit. We cooked a private dinner for the outgoing governor and his entire staff last week, and at the end of the month we will travel to Constitucion to cook a dinner for new elected governor. In March we move the team to Queretaro for a dinner for the state goverment there (perhaps a 2nd Tres Virgenes at San Miguel de Allende?). And finally we are finishing details on a long time planned dinner at Punta Chivato perhaps this coming month.

I am blessed i have a great staff, i give all credit to my boys and girls who run the everyday operation at 3V.

I watched Rick Bayless compete against many other great chefs on the Food Network and he beat them all, took top honors!

He is a cooking genius and learned his love for Mexican food while living in Mexico.

Also, the restaurant "Red O" in Los Angeles is not his but he oversees the cooking (I have heard) and it is impossible to get in the place even with reservations.

Thanks for the tip. We don't get up to LA very often, usually just driving through. Be sure to give us your take on it.

As was mentioned he is just a consultant to RedO, a highly skilled one though! Watching him on Bravo's Top Chef Masters, which he ultimately won, was amazing!!!!

Sancho, Bayless' show, "Mexico, One Plate at a Time" currently airs in the afternoon at 1 pm during week on one of the LA area PBS stations. KCET (the website is kcet.org).

Jesse, I am so thrilled and happy for your success, I hope to make it to La Paz soon!

Great news Jesse... I wasn't aware of him until this thread, but sounds like plenty have seen him...

Speaking of featuring Baja original foods, is the Palma Azul restaurant in Tijuana still open? We went there in 2004 and it was quite something!

Hey! If Bourdain and Bayless among others can do it, maybe Jesse could get a cable deal and review restaurants too!
