In the "IN GOD WE TRUST" madness of smart bombs and HellFire missiles, if a bomb went off and wiped out Burning Man the humanity and peacefulness
index of America would drop several points.
The reverse would be true at my secessionist County's Fair. If a bomb wiped-out the crowd at the Destruction Derby on Saturday night, the average IQ
of the County would suddenly increase noticeably.
On the other hand, when non-conformity becomes conformity..... |

Yes, and that's a hard line to draw. When and where this happens is a mysterious thing hard to put your finger on. Guys having long hair is a perfect
example. Used to be that your could tell who was "cool" if they had long hair. Then every guy had long hair. Then no one did. Except those guys
who had mullets. Then mullets became a subject for derision. I guess everyone draws that line for themselves.
As for VIPs at Burning Man... one of the founding principles of Burning Man is Radical Inclusivity. That means everyone is invited. No matter how
rich or poor. They don't turn you away just because you show up with a mega-RV or fly in on a private airplane. Nor do they turn you away if you
show up with nothing. No matter if you are Zuckerman or some homeless hippie out of SF. You might want to check it out before you start talking
crap. Don't want to do drugs? Then don't. Don't want to get neked? Then don't. Lots fewer neked people than clothed people. Not your thing at
all? Don't go. But don't sit in judgment over something that you nothing more about than what you heard on CNN or some other bullchit media outlet.
It's actually pretty cool if you can get over the damn dubstep music!! But you can always find a cool jazz or blues or whatever camp if that is your
preference.
I've been to many a festival in my time. Whether or how much it's changed from it's roots, Burning Man is one of a kind. I'm going to make sure I go
at least one more time before I leave the US.

I'll correct you - anyone can go to Burning Man. If you have no money and reach out to the organization you will go. If you contribute your time or
your art you are welcome. Thousands of participants arrive from all over the world - only in America can this happen.

hmm - looking at their 2013 pricing I see...
'It should be noted that we also offer 4,000 scholarship and low income tickets (at $190 each) for those able to show proof of financial hardship, in
order to provide less expensive tickets for those in need'
How might one get free admission as you mentioned?

Volunteer to work, either for the organization directly or for one of the theme camps.
