Don't need to use my Medicare, not sick and fully insured for now if I get sick. Big surprise, once you aren't covered by private insurance, you will
be charged every month if you use Medicare or not. Anyway, thanks for your concern about my health care!

You can decline to have Medicare if you are still covered by private insurance and no deduction from your monthly living (SSI) check. However, once
you are not covered by private insurance, then the monthly premium is deducted monthly from the Social Security check.

I am talking about the part that requires paying. Everyone gets the card at 65. I have Kaiser as my primary insurance.
How about sticking to Baja or Nomad discussion so we stop violating Doug's rules! 😂

Interesting. I'm turning 65 in January, and my private insurance (Molina) stops on 12/31/22. I have to apply to Medicare starting in October,
$170.10 per month as of January 1. Going to add either Kaiser or Sharp $0 premium Advantage plans to, Kaiser has a big facility about a half mile
from my house, so leaning to Kaiser.
My buddy has private insurance through Raytheon and did not apply for Medicare yet, he's 65 this week. So, David may be correct in his case. David
may possibly be getting MediCal currently, so I do not know how that may be affected at age 65.
It's definitely a puzzle. And, I try to stay in shape and eat well.

Kaiser has been wonderful in all me dealing with them, back when I was 14 and fell off my motorbike in Baja to my coverage since I got married to Baja
Angel in 2008, who works at Kaiser. Why would I be getting MediCal?
Once again, as I am fully insured I could decline Medicare payments.

I never said you did. MediCal is just another option for how people get health coverage in California. Just like your Kaiser plan, or my Molina
plan. Not everyone is lucky enough to get insurance through their spouse.

I was responding to this: "David may possibly be getting MediCal currently, "
No worries... let it go.
Yes, I am enormously lucky meeting 'Baja Angel' (the handle Antonio of Baja Cactus gave Elizabeth) and having her consent to being my wife! Not a lot
of women can put up with a man suffering with Baja Fever!
