What I was questioning in Grover's comments wasn't that these guys (hopefully) shouldn't get what they deserve....but, the wives and children?

Debra, I am a firm believer that the punishment be disproportionate to the crime. There would be no more jaywalking if the punishment would be
amputation of the right leg at the kneecap. For rape how about your wife and children sold into sexual slavery. Think that would be a deterrent? The
only criminals left would be true sociopaths. My only requirement would be that the penalties be widely publicized beforehand. That way no one could
whine about it.

I think punishing innocent wives and children for the crimes of the father might be getting a little too Klingon for my tastes. And Dave, there is a
flaw in your logic concerning brutal punishment for lesser crimes. For instance, in medieval England virtually all crimes were punishable by death.
What ended up happening was that criminals ceased to differentiate between severities of crimes. If a person was committing property crimes, perhaps
due to the lack of any other means of obtaining these things, and the pending punishment is certain death if this person is caught, why not he commit
a few murders and rapes? What does he have to lose?
If my son was working in a 7 Eleven, I would want any potential robber to have to think very hard before allowing his crime spree to escalate to
murder and hurt my son.

In the states, I am armed,
and I could PREVENT the attack.
There might be less violent crime in Baja than in the states, but at least in the states I have the right to defend myself.
Although, there is ALWAYS a problem when it's a LAW ENFORCEMENT officer who is the attacker.
We have had several cases of police rapists and they have been convicted and sent to prison.

Dave: It appears to me that the punishment fits the Crime. Has nothing to do with being a Christian.
It use to be that I would turn the other cheek{8 yrs old}Then I grew up to be a fighter.Still am!!
What would you do Dave?
Call a Phy Major to find out if he got the correct Potty training?
See if he is unemployed and out of work due to Rich folks closing a Plant.
His Father abused him when he was young{used a flyswatter on his butt for lying}
Or just maybe he has been listening to the present day Music and acting out his frustations
