Who is the operating partner of Surfeador Baja if it's not John Rellos?
Dear Juan del Rio,
I did suggest that BajaChris ask Juan Rellos of Juan y Juan if he isn't the operating partner of Surfeador Baja, who his partners are and if his
attorneys gave PROFEPA gas money. Juan del Rio and John Rellos just seemed too close to be a coincidence so if you are not John Rellos I apologize.

Taxcutter, Great story! Surfrider and Wildocast may not be perfect but they are the best we have going right now.
Ruben, I'm puzzeled by your attitude and insistance to attack John whoever and sureador Baja (what is that?) and who is operating partner, etc. Huh?
Who cares?
I think the primary point is what i've heard from multiple sources is that you apparently had repeated violations and ignored Profepa's demands to
stop what you were doing. They did come out many times and you kept doing the same things as soon as they left town.
You know, in Mexico if you disrepect the locals and especially the local laws, you're gonna have some problems. And we don't hear anything from you
about the actual legalities of the Profepa enforcements so we can only assume that they were appropriate, and we now only hear from you about how
somebody must have paid them gas money to come out and harrass you. I'm surprised you're not also accusing people of bribes too.
Sure, it is Mexico, but more than likely you just really peeed Profepa off so they weren't going to let you slide. And even if somebody did help them
with gas which i doubt, who cares? Apparently you were really breaking the law and i'm sure if the roles were reversed you would have done the exact
same thing.
You're a businessman out to make investments and to make money and good for you. That's great and you have every right to do so. But if you make some
mistakes or if you get a round of bad luck because some people don;t like you, then MAN UP and deal with it instead of whining and attacking people on
these forums, especially when you don;t have any facts to support your claims. That stuff with juan del Rio above was really weak dude.
Maybe you should just go surfing at some new spot in Baja and get over it. But please do us all a favor and leave your developers hat at home so we
don;t have this Scorpion Bay cancer infecting other areas of Baja.

however, according to "other" local sources this weekend, as soon as Ruben installed a state of the art septic system, which triggered an automatic 25
year extension of his lease, well, that was the beginning of the latest round(s) of drama. if these old, rich white guys don't think they'll be around
long enough to see the point under their control, well i don't give a chiite.
another "factoid", the judge overseeing this entire drama went on vacation a week or so ago for 2 weeks. coincidence as to when the fence went up? who
knows..... whatta shame...
Ruben? do you have any more details to illuminate the masses, like tossing a litre of gasolina on the bonfire?

FACTS? please enlighten us! facts are hard to come by unless you are one of the pupeteers in this saga..... details and inuendo are opposite sides of

While I'm waiting for some pics to upload in photobucket I'll tell ya about my stay in San Juanico. We had planned to camp for 3 or 4 nights but it
was really blowing. No way to set a tent up more less try to cook meals. By chance another group from Punta Chivato had driven their Quads over and
were staying rooms at the camp. They were pretty unhappy with the rooms and having to go through rooms to go to the bathroom. One couple's beds were
so bad they went down to the palapa and and got a cot & bedding for their room. Food was good there and the beer was cold. But at Around $45/night
not generally a good experience. A local there, Jack, was selling a camper and one of us wanted to check it out. Turned out Jack and his wife, Angela,
do some property management for some of the home owners and he had a nice selection to choose from. We took the first one he showed us. A really clean
2 bdrm with two couches in the living room to sleep the extra body. Jack visits the Nomads sometimes so he may chime in about the rentals not the
politics. If you're interested in the rental homes hare's jack's E-mail bajafam1@hotmail.com Our place was $200/night +/- It turned out to be a hell
of a camping trip fo $50 each/ night. Hot water, Best beds & bedding, refer, stove, BBQ on the patio with a view of 1st point on and on. Can't
say enough. Oh yeh, the photos are probably cooked by now....

Steve was damned if he was going to haul his surf stuff over there and nit ride a wave or two. Totally blown out. By afternoon there wasn't even a
wave this small. But holly chit what an unreal break! Endless Summer type waves when they're breaking.

bottom line is regardless of the politics , the facts are simple....
you catch one 200yd ride there on an offshore day over shoulder high and you are hooked for life. sure there are more consistant spots in baja.
there are less crowded. but on its day, there is not better, not anywhere(in baja). 2nd and 3rd are to die for when they are on. there are other
breaks around, even in the area. but all of it pales in comparison to 2nd and 3rd points.
anyone who claims they dont understand what the fuss is all about. has not surfed there when its good.many who had the privilege to surf it empty
and back in the day, empty and perfect , well they are over it.
but even when its packed its total stoke out there. its a good family spot. and there is no better spot to learn to surf(rights) in all of baja.
its relatively safe in and out of the water and the locals are pretty cool to travelers. almost everyone i know who has been there more than once has
been adopted in friendship by at least one of the local family's.
but with a seriously large(for the size and location of the town) exclusive population of very well off gringos there is plenty of issues.and there
is enough local politics as well. no ejido is without its drama. the gringos/developers want the land, the surfer/campers want the point/cantina, and
the ejido and almost all of the family's want as many of our dollars as we are willing to bring and side with whoever they like best for whatever
reason.
but can you have the "quintessential baja surf experience" in san juanico still? of course you can life is what you make it. it also makes a great
first/newbie baja trip before you really try to rough it out there. like i said its a great spot for folks with little kids new swimmers/surfers and
the more advanced as well. and because of that it lends itself well to groups. because of that, seasonal south swells, and great surf foercasting , it
can get pretty crowded in no time at all.
we love it there, the whole family ... regardless of the politics... and yes we know folks on gringo hill, out at seventh, in town, have been
adopted by a local family, and have spent all night dancing after the fiesta and c-ckfights more than once.
so if for some strange reason you find yourself there, and its grinding for 200-300 yards and offshore, and its packed, and you think its
overrated, paddle out.... i dare you to just humor me and catch one good one,
then tell us if you still feel its overrated...
go camp, stay with a friend, try the hotel, whatever you do hawever you wanna do it, but do it now, while you still can, while the beach is still
open, while the campers are still there, while you still can catch a glimpse of the true baja vibe, cause its truly endangered...
