Wow...I'd be very curious as to how you could get a war that you fought in confused with another war. :?::?:

Which one were YOU, Skeet ?

Were you observing the Riots anywhere near 108th and Avalon ?

Having been an active participant in the 1965 Watts Riots, I MAY have seen Skeet if he was one of those with the LAPD who Zoomed up and down the streets on Avalon in their patrol units flashing their lights and sirens without slowing down while the rest of us "civilians" were defending what we could.

What a Joke. The cops would come zooming by, the crowds of Rioters/Looters would part and then throw rocks at them as they swept past. The irony was that they "could" have gained control. We found out quickly that none of those celebrating wanted to challenge anybody with a gun.

After those days, NOBODY need tell me to put my faith in Law Enforcement when the Crap hits the fan.

The one upside to the riots for us was all the liberated merchandise, including brand-new guns, we bought at super prices afterwards. Wished I could have taken out a Bank Loan to purchase contraband. I might have gotten rich.

Would have spent it all, though.

Pam:

It did not work several years ago and it will not work in the future.

You know the control in Loreto, The Local Fisherman will take care of the Wantobe Fisherman. Please don't get to involved as the word will get around and you might lose some good business when people like me tell the Truth about Cooperative Fishing in Loreto.

First let me say I am not a fan of Unions. With that said, Unions served a purpose in the early days of the Industrial Revolution of the USA. At that time the workers were nearly servants of their employer with low wages, high hours of work and poor unsafe working conditions. Later this reversed and ruined the USA manufacturing sector.

Now in Mexico if the workers are being paid a fair wage, reasonable hours & good safe working conditions; there is no reason for a Union. If not, someone needs to come to their aid and that maybe a Union. In most of the 20,000+ miles of travel we have completed in all of Mexico plus numerous fly-in trips I would say the common worker of Mexico could use a little help & education. If not Mexico will probably remain a two class country of the Haves & Have-nots! JMHO!

Distant Skeet Observations

105th and Hoover wasn't exactly in the Belly of the Beast. A good choice for a "cautious" observer, though. Especially if that "observing was done AFTER the National Guard moved in and things were under control.

But, I'm sure we couldn't have won without you, Skeet.

Sure.

Skeet
I had wondered about your utter lack of reference--until now--of military service. Usually men of your generation like to drop that into the conversation rather early.

Now we know why. Either you are a very confused old man (lots of evidence to back this up, if you choose that out), or you like to engage in that sport called "Make up a military record" that seems so common to some of a certain political persuation.

So, Skeet, do you really have military service? How do you explain the discrepancy between your age during WWII with your claim to have served in the Japanese campaign? Simple mistake of wars, as you claim?

I'm sorry, Skeet, but since we now have doubts, I'll need to see some sort of proof of military service. Anything short of certified true copies simply won't do. I sure hope it doesn't turn out that you are some pansy-a$$ed weakling, scarty cat who didn't support your country in its time of need. Korea and Vietnam would have been the perfect arenas for you to go kick butt on all that communism and socialism you have such a disdain for.

For the record, my mother wore Army boots during WWII. Bajalera served in the WAC, where she rose from the enlisted ranks before joining the officer core.

As a veteran--and a real war veteran, at that (Persian Gulf War I)--I take umbrage at people who claim to have been and haven't.

And Dennis, I don't take this seriously--I do have a life. But even a full, rich life needs entertainment. And that's what Skeet is for me, entertainment and nothing more.

I doubt he will comprehend the full richness of your experience. That the man has feelings is why he is so passionate with his opinions.

So, as a 14-year-old you were onboard a US Navy ship in Yokohama in 1945? The Navy must have changed a lot in the years between your service and mine.

And you confused memories of war rationing in the US with having seen first hand how the Japanese had it, in Japan, I assume?

Yeah, right Skeeterman. Keep trying. I think you were a yellow-bellied coward, that's what I think. That "I don't want to talk about it" approach doesn't work here. You're going to try to convince me that a jet (or recyprocating) mech had horrible war experiences? Not very likely (I, too, was an airdale and know the drill). I suspect your lack of words on the subject reflect your lack of experience. You probably sat out the Korean war on some stateside base, quite common for an airdale in the Navy.

I'm sure you know the difference between a fairy tale and a sea story, but I'll tell you anyway--it's been a while and you may have forgotten. A fairy tale begins "Once upon a time..." and a sea story starts off with "This ain't no s-hit..."

I think you're full of sea stories, Skeeterman.
