Unfortunately, half of our country is reactionary and mistakenly calls that idea "socialism" or accuses the government of "picking winners and losers."

How can we incentivize critical thinking and some basic history education in the general voting population of the USA? Maybe toss in some civics and clearly some economics?

Well John, they weren't reluctant to boost the taxes or turn in on the tap of the flows of energy, so the tax reductions should be an easily accepted next step don't you think?
I've never seen anyone yet complain about paying fewer taxes. Right now the government is obtaining zero taxes from EV's that aren't being bought or built. Any additional sales won't cost them anything but generate more jobs, reduced pollution and speed conversion.
Last time I saw a shortage of low cost housing effectively corrected, a similar plan was introduced, property taxes delayed by 2 years, and reduced taxation for the next years as long as they kept a certain percentage of low cost rentals. This created a massive increase in low cost housing by developers. The cost I suppose is the rental rates and real estate valuations remained depressed for decades. due to an excess of available rentals.

I think his comment was his secretary was paying a higher rate of taxes than he was required to and he found that unfair and illogical if we are thinking of the same statement.

Indian television seldom has anything good to say about China. Those two are adversaries due to border disputes. And that seems to poison everything. It's unfortunate but something the US is working on to take advantage of.

Wow. Bouncing cheerleaders. Porn food for the sexual perverts out there.

Do you guys even like women? Think any women seeing this crap might be offended? Soft porn, JZ, really?

Show some maturity and respect and grow up a bit?

Actually, surabi has made her disdain and disrespect for cheerleaders quite clear, so it does not appear she's offended.

speaking of cheerleaders,...

Cheerleading Against Climate Change

The Sea Squad uses cheerleading to discuss climate change, colonialism and capitalism – and acts as a model for action.

Cheerleaders are individuals, working together as a team. They are a rhizomatic network. They are a model of group leadership, making statements in formation. They are power in a union. A body of water is comprised of individual water molecules, each invisible. And yet the sea as a mass contains so much power.

I did no such thing. I have disdain and disrespect for the sexualization of women, and the sexist men who enjoy such things and deny they are being sexist. I have nothing against cheerleaders as people, it's the mixing in of sexuality in the "sport", if that's what you call cheerleading.

It would be interesting to see how many men would enjoy watching cheerleaders for their skill, if they didn't wear skimpy outfits and have boob jobs.

Again, you are completely mischaracterizing my words and their meaning.

If you can't see the difference between a person dressing up to go out with a lover or friends, and wearing a tiny skirt like some 4 year old child, or showing major cleavage in front of thousands of people, then you have nothing of value to add to this topic.
And since when does a woman "dressing up" mean she has to have her boobs spilling out of her shirt, or wear a skirt that barely covers her private parts?

Going about unkempt, unwashed and wearing a potato sack is not the alternative to presenting oneself as a sex object. To suggest so is ludicrous.

I can assure you I am not a prude. In fact, I hung out at a lot of skinny dipping beaches when I lived in Canada, because it seems stupid to put on some skimpy piece of clothing to go swimming.
Wearing a bikini on the beach is appropriate- wearing one for a job interview at a bank is not. It's not some stretch to say that female cheerleaders' outfits are designed to be sexy, they obviously are. Just admit that you like that, instead of trying to pretend that isn't the case and you simply enjoy their "skill".

What do you think cheerleaders should wear? Something "not sexy?" But then it comes back to your narrow definition of "sexy" and "skimpy", doesn't it? Please define "skimpy" and "sexy" for us, can you?

See the problem with your argument? It only includes your opinion.

Why don't you stop and visit at my high school if you think cheerleaders dress too provocatively. They actually dress conservatively compared to most females on campus. Bring your pearls, as I guarantee you'll be clutching them like an old scold.

Maybe you can help out our administration with a revised dress code? We've struggled for many years to come up with one that is not clearly slanted toward control of female attire. Is that fair?

And, no, I do not watch football for the cheerleaders. Another figment of your imagination. Don't project your hang ups on the rest of us. You clearly harbor some ill will toward men based on your comments. Why is that?

John

Just another a$$hold troll. Man, you and JZ will always sound like first class jerks debating women. Had you pegged wrong, John.

Remind me. How many women have I debated so far on BN?

Either way, Lee, I'm sorry to read your comments. I feel both of you misunderstand my position. I think she crossed the line in a couple areas. Mainly from disengagement with today's youth.

If you read my comments, I'm actually supporting girls and their right to do (and be) what they want, not be judged by others. I teach high school girls and boys every day, I converse and am acquainted with many of them, allegedly I'm one of the most popular teachers. I don't judge them on dress, hair, or gender. They're our children, all of ours.

Fashion and dress is not scandalous any more, girls are not programmed to find a husband, have babies, and be housewives. I know many LGBTQ kids, it's normal now. They are just like you and me. It's okay.

Also, try and tell a mom in a mini skirt that her daughter is dressed inappropriately and see what happens. Fireworks.

My dear friend Suzy was a Charger cheerleader and is our amazing cheer coach. She's heard all this stereotype crap all her life. If I didn't speak up for the continual denigration of these young women, what kind of man or friend would I be.

So, that's me, take it or leave it. Some of you have not been around young people for years, I'm with them every day. I'm standing for them.

I enjoy my time with them. It makes me proud and encouraged about our future. They are much more civilized than my generation.

But. they all still love the music from my generation. So, we will always have that common thread. Except they never heard the music when it was new nor had a chance to see most of the bands they now love. Priceless rep for me with my kiddos!
