Hollandse nieuwe haring
That's Dutch new herring, just in from the fleet. New catch, salted in barrels, skinned, gutted and eaten raw.
Delicious beyond belief.

Dan O and jdtrotter..

Lutefisk has a chance to become Baja's national dish.

Just think of all those ripe blowfish and puffers that wash up on the beaches?

Wish no longer, Russ. That herb garden is done quite easily right here. For auto-watering, all you need is someone who does more gardening than fishing....

By the way, the dark-haired gent (and master chef) REALLY knows his herbs! ...and approves this small herb stand by Felipa. Later that night, we had a terrific grilled chicken courtesy of him..using some of those herbs.

Diane, I can make your lye wish come true. I actually know how to make it. I bet you can taste that lutefisk right now..? Here's the deal, first, get a wooden barrel, then you start saving all the pufferfish you can beachcomb.....

I remember seeing Ginger Ale at WalMart. Big Mike drinks his VO with the stuff and I brought it to his attention. I shouldn't have 'cause I think it's against the law to mix Ginger Ale with VO.

Dennis,
Must be a kanuck,
VO and gingerale is a very common drink in Kanuckistan.

Thanks, Ed. Actually, in my fifteen years behind a bar, I poured a lot of it that way.

Rich n Linda,

The best biscuts and sausage gravy I ever had is a restaurant directly across from the bus station in Ensenada. This place is in front of a motel (pink in color). Can't remember the name but it is GOOD! Spent a lot of time in the southern states and had their best but you have to try this place....... Good lokin waitress also Dennis. You should have no problemo here my friend if you order the mellons.
Thanks, we will look for it next time we are in Ensenada. Haven't had any for ages!
