As for Baja, at KM 124/125 south of El Rosario there is a side road. If you go down it for 1 mile there is a set of rocks with bushes around them. One rock has a darker shade of gray to it and under that rock is a suborder Sauriawith with a moderately elongated body. I'm not sure if it is a terrestrial or burrowing species. If anyone is in the area and spots it perhaps you could find out by followig it to its home.

I will prefess this by telling how I came to the adventure in the first place.

Long story short.........I was "pirated" by DK from another Baja site, new to the internet, I at first ignored him (I had heard the "net" was a dangerous place :o..........one night after returning from the hosiptal tending to my very pregnate daughter and my 2yr. old G-daughter that had been hit in a roll over T-Bone accident I found an email from Mr. K. inviting me to an online chat, I was feeling pretty low and upset and needed to 'chill' so I went on line, there I found what would become later some of my best friend in my life (you know who you are :D )

As time when on I was talked into coming down for what would be "M's" first BBBB.......I'm told 82 "Amigo's" showed up for that first event.

Soooooooooo by the time I'd decided to really go it was too late to get a good deal on an airline, so after confering with DK I alone, hopped a train with the promise that a total stranger would pick me up and give me his spare room "map room" Huh?, I know you are wondering WHAT THE HECK WAS I THINKING! me too..........

When I finally arrived at Oceanside and got off the bus I saw this man and a little blond girl (8 then I think) waiting across the way, don't know how I knew, but, I did, it was David and his daughter Sarah, I was welcomed with big hugs from both and felt safe and secure..........Until day 2.

Off we go the next morning in Amo's brand spanking new 14 passenger 4X4 van to pick up others that will join us. Great trip, GREAT PEOPLE, until we picked up Dahveed (but that is a another story)

We arrive at Ceilito Lindo and meet up with the group, I'm kind of hanging back on my own because I know no one and feeling abit out of place....that didn't last long as people kept coming up to me "HEY, YOUR TRAVELPEARL, BEEN WAITHING TO MEET YOU!" thanks again David, no keeping a low profile with you as my host  On to the Margarita contest, this came to be my real Oh Crap moment..........thanks to Bedman!

I started out as all in good fun, warning here........NOBODY, NOBODY accept a Margarita from Bedman! I kept passing the ones he put in my face away........ too bad David was the closest one to me and being the gentalman I learned him to be, or, probably more to the point, he had just dealt with 11 passengers in the van and needed a destresser? HA!

Then came Desert Bull's chain saw blender.......only way I know how to describe it, that is what it sounded like. AND, the contest begins! What a blast! but, again, me being out of my element I'm hanging back, watching and laughing my butt off.......don't know what time it was but, we all were off to our tents, RV, Campers whatever (3AM me thinks) I'm settling down in my tent and I hear gut renching pucking near, and if I remember right a few prayers might have been thrown in there...........so I get out of my tent and find my host..........now I'm really thinking WHAT THE HECK DID I GET MYSELF INTO!!!!! I'M AT THIS DRUNK'S MERCY FOR 14 MORE DAYS! YIKES!.............but, all was well (how we bond while rubbing someone's back and holding their hair while they puke, LOL!!!!!!! (sorry DK, you encourged me and I told you I would tell ALL of the story)

Morning comes and it seems a trip to the beach is in order.......off we go (some moving slower than others TEEHEE) Love you brother, but, you know it wouldn't be all of the fun if I didn't share............

This huge van is loaded down and our host decided to give it a test (not a good plan as it turned out, but, one of the high-lights for all of us.......a great story to tell. David decided that this monster van can tackle huge sand dunes, WHOOPS! But to the rescue MMMMMMMMMMMMM! She pulls that thing out by herself and just a tow rope on her back while all the big strong men fail! Way to go M!!!!!!! What a gal!

David I ask that you supply pictures to the naritive, come on, I know you have them!

If I'm not boring all of you I will come back later with the next 2wks.

DK is an absolute treasure to this website. Unquestionably dedicated, fixated on Baja. If I could make just one suggestion- DK should stick to his schtick. Meaning that very obviously, when he wanders off to social and political issues, he gets mugged by a number of nomads. Hey. If he can handle it, fine. But all the bandwith eaten up with the blather, just doesn't make sense to me.

Oh, I have video footage of that major stuckage. Looks like another journey to the youtube site is in order. :bounce::spingrin::lol:

Good to see you posting again, Debra. David was a loose cannon but I was well behaved on that trip, right? :o

DK is a "treasure" anywhere he goes, he helps more "newbies" with the same questions that they ask over, and over again with kindness and gentleness while the rest of us sometimes roll our eyes...........

As too his polititics and everybody else's.......I agree, take it to the board it belongs on. It was him after all that asked Doug for that forum and it seems it's working............

If I want to fight with him, which I often have, I take it to U2....right David?

In the 9yrs. that I have known David, never have I ever seen a mean bone in his body, he gets miffed with the attacts and spouts off, who of us wouldn't?!

David is and has always been on the top of my (thank you Baja friends) list when I have needed help, when my son, I, and baby G-daughter broke down, it was David that put the word out on the board and I had complete strangers contacting me willing to come pick us up and shelter us, from San Francisco Ca. to La Paz Mexico........within a few minutes I had a call from Mary Ann Humfreville , Mike had been reading David's board message I guess (Mike and I were having a spat at the time so he in his sturborn way didn't call me himself) Mary Ann told me that Mike had told her to call me and find out what I needed, I could have got my truck fixed and headed back home, but our trip would have ended..........MA told me that Mike said NO WAY!, "what does she need". By the next day I had a FedEX cashiers check for $1500USD Thanks to advice from Soulpatch I had a new engine and was on my way 2 days later! my kids and I had 2months of Baja fun!!

David is what Choral Pepper called him, the "Baja Connection" and if some get miffed by his style?...........just wait until you need help, he will be the first to come to your aid!

NOMAD REGISTRATIONS BY YEAR

How many users have registered each year, beginning in 2002, regardless of post numbers?

What numbers of posts are "needed" to "elevate" (or self levitate)?

How many for Nomad God?

Seriously, I didn't realize there was a competetion. I've personally been dissed for having so many posts in a short time. Many factors involved, including that I hate to mix two thoughts in a single post. and that I have no life.

Thank you Debra very much... Happy Mother's Day to you, too!

The van's transfer case popped out of 4WD while I was driving it on the sand dune... and that is why it stuck... The van was awesome otherwise.

It made for a great show and comedy section of El Camote's BBBB-1 video... M pulling on the tow strap as we all tried to figure why the van suddonly went down. Neal Johns and Bedman both came over to me and said only the back tire was spinning... and once I re-engaged the transfer case, drove right out of the hole...

Photos of the entire trip Debra described is at http://vivabaja.com/van1

The Amo Pescar Viva Baja Tours 4WD van, fully loaded at Alfonsina's... on the beach at the far north house where we camped. One of the passengers (Desert Rat) had permission from the home's owner to stay there. We had an awesome campfire with all of us good amigos!

I also have to chime in and thank David for all the time and energy he spent with us before and during our first trip to Baja. I have to chuckle when I think of how "green" we were.

Also a huge thank you to so many other Nomads that stepped in and helped...Debra, it blows me away how generous you were to offer us the use of your motor home! Elgatoloco... wow, such great hospitality!!!

I met Marie-Rose at our favorite breakfast place in Vista, Sunrise Cafe several years ago as she and her husband were half way to Baja Sur from Canada and took the time to meet me there.

Thanks Marie-Rose, the pleasure was mine.

All Nomads I have met in person have been great people... It is just a few with sour grapes that I hope to meet and make friends with still.

The only time I think I ever talk politics is in a response to someone else... I don't believe I have ever started a political rant, I only offer some balance to the heavy left leaning that sometimes can be seen here. Certainly there can be a freedom of ideas in our society for both or all sides, I should hope.
While others may avoid the subject to remain 'friendly' to all... I want you all to know that my friendship with all of you will never have anything to do with politics... I don't care what you think, I only want us all to enjoy talking about Baja... it is what we have in common that counts here!
