How will them stem cells be used?

The chemotherapy completely destroyed her immune system? Wow. It's gonna be a long recovery.

No Igor, but it will when she goes in for her bone marrow transplant. The donors blood will be flown from Germany, frozen, and then tested for any impurities, then it is spun at a high force to separate the stem cells. Then the transplant begins. It is infused into Juanitas blood. If all goes well, the donors' cels will be accepted. If not, major organ damage or worse. We are all very positive for the outcome. She will be in isolation for 28 days after the procedure. All emails will be so very welcome at that time.Thank you for being a concerned Nomad.:saint:

OMG Jorge!! Marko and I split one last night and it was, I swear, the best orange I have ever had!! Really meaty and sweet.Thank you so much for all the goodies for Juanita!I kept two oranges and three baby zuchs.I have the g-kids sometimes and they love oranges.Maybe I will come and get some roses for Juanita tomorrow. When she goes in to the hospital she won;t be seeing anything live or lovely. She loved the sweetpeas!! Hugs to you and the gals!

Mood: missing Baja...

I haven't posted an update for a while because, quite frankly, all news has been horrible. As of yesterday, Juanita has started to be able to keep down small amounts of food. That is GOOD news. She has had extremem pain in her knee and was on morphine for some time, really doped up.She had many sores in her mouth, on her lips and throat. She could barely speak. She has been in isolation for six or more weeks now. They gave her an injection in her knee and the pain is subsiding, her wounds are healing and her spirits are lifting!!Finally the turn around we have been waiting for is happening! So when they release her she will be staying in a motel or apartment close to Cedar-Siani because she will need to be checked on three times at least, a week.Hopefully her girls will be able to spend some time with her there. They are living with me now and school is out next week so it should work out.Not out of the woods yet but any good change is cause for hope and relief!! Thank you all so much for all the kind words and wishes/prayers!! I'll update again soon. Sally

This is good news, Sally - that Juanita seems to have 'rounded that bend in her recovery and perhaps things will be easier for her from now on. Candles are still lit for her and for all of you.

Thanks for update Sally. I have been waiting for it every day, knowing that the longer it takes the more likely the news will be bad. Now there is a sense of relief.

Orele, I will keep hoping for the upward swing to continue in her favor, may she soon have her babies in her arms again. Pobrecita, dear Juanita, she sure has been thru the wringer.
