Since everyone passes gas 7.3 billion people probably pass more gas than 340 million Americans.
No one knows how much methane termites produce and NASA has only been monitoring methane since about 2006. Lots of organic and inorganic methane
released from the oceans. Probably a lot from hog lagoons in India and China as well.
NASA only sees the gross polluters. It’s possible that India or China are the largest polluters or the termites or nature itself with inorganic
methane releases.

As for the methane from cows, we can stop eating red meat or drinking milk as being presently pushed by the more famous influencers. Or we can change
the feed we give the cows and in addition as is already being done, we can take steps to capture some of that methane from present waste and recycle
it as a renewable energy source with CO2 capture and storage to deal with the harmful products. Also, we seldom hear of the advantages of Methane
fueled fuel cells anymore, although apparently it is being used in more and more vehicles.

Land fills are a major source of methane production! Twenty-five years ago I was involved in construction of a new landfill near Anchorage, and
capturing and using the methane generated was part of the plan.
Within the last year I recall a news broadcast that featured a land fill somewhere near me in Northern CA that was using the methane created there to
supplement a fleet of natural gas fired equipment.
I imagine that most older facilities either release the gas to the atmosphere, or possibly have a way to flare it to reduce the release.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

I like eating meat more than driving a full size pickup. Given a choice between large trucks and good food, i will choose good food.
Sacrifices must be made. Your driving an outrageously large truck to get groceries or commute to your cubicle job is a privilege not a right. If you
cant afford the gas, ride a scooter or take the bus.
If you cant afford to tow a boat, then go rent one at the marina.
If you cant afford to tow a 5th wheel, then dont be a pussy and learn how to car camp.
If you cant afford something, learn to do w/o, or get a better-paying job

Mammals’ Time on Earth Is Half Over, Scientists Predict
A new model suggests that in 250 million years, all land will collide into a supercontinent that boosts warming and pushes mammals to
extinction.
It’s been about 250 million years since reptile-like animals evolved into mammals. Now a team of scientists is predicting that mammals may have only
another 250 million years left.
The researchers built a virtual simulation of our future world, similar to the models that have projected human-caused global warming over the next
century. Using data on the movement of the continents across the planet, as well as fluctuations in the chemical makeup of atmosphere, the new study
projected much further into the future.
Alexander Farnsworth, a paleoclimate scientist at the University of Bristol who led the team, said that the planet might become too hot for any
mammals — ourselves included — to survive on land. The researchers found that the climate will turn deadly thanks to three factors: a brighter
sun, a change in the geography of the continents and increases in carbon dioxide.
“It’s a triple whammy that becomes unsurvivable,” Dr. Farnsworth said. He and his colleagues published their study on Monday in the journal
Nature Geoscience.
Scientists have been trying for decades to foretell the fate of life on Earth. Astronomers expect that our sun will grow steadily brighter and, in
about 7.6 billion years, may engulf the Earth.
But life probably will not make it that long. As the sun hurls more energy at the planet, Earth’s atmosphere will heat up, causing more water to
evaporate from the oceans and continents. Water vapor is a potent greenhouse gas, and so it will trap even more heat. It may get hot enough in two
billion years to boil away the oceans.

One important point-
They dont charge when cloudy, rainy or of course at night. So the main grid is still required to be ready to carry the full load all the time.
If regulations were more reasonable, there would be more nuclear plants pulling the load very economically.

The big challenge is in managing when non-essential loads are applied, similar to my solar home. Electric hot water heaters, water distillers, EV
charging etc. are not needed for short periods when no solar or wind power is available and priority can then be shifted to supply AC, lighting, water
pumps, fridges, laundry and cooking.

How’s Baja doing? It’s doing fine.
Solar “net 0” home update.
We’ve been operating the house AC system for almost 2 months now. In September we started to AC the entire house.
As planed we control the humidity and temperature in the master BR 24/7. We have discovered that running the AC (1 ton) for 30 min at bedtime and for
15 min every hour or so until 9:00AM keeps the BR at 26C.
We found we had enough excess battery capacity to also run the ACs in the living room and kitchen for 15 min each from 6:00 to 9:00. All the run times
are staggered so only one AC is running at any one time in order to increase battery efficency.
Employing scheduled operation of all the ACs maintains an overnight temperature of 26C to 28C in the house while not running the batteries below 60%.
Originally it required 3-4 days to dry out the interior of the house. During this period about 4KW/Hr were required for cooling. Currently 2.5KW/Hr
maintains the same temperature.
We currently have enough excess solar capacity to charge our PHEV about 30mi per day as well.
We cook with electricity. We use some propane for hot water.

We have solar hot water. We have a 100’ run to the house that is in direct sun. The water is warm enough for everything except the dishwasher.
